Book Description An urge comes up, we succumb to it, and it becomes stronger. We reinforce our cravings, habits, and addictions by giving in to them repeatedly. Pema Chödrön guides us through this "sticky feeling" and offers us tools for learning to stay with our uneasiness, soften our hearts toward others, and ourselves and live a more peaceful life in the fullness of the present moment.

wonderful June 23, 2008 This is very worthwhile if you are struggling to break free of self-limiting habitual thoughts and actions. It's not cure, but it's a process.

I have not opened it yet. I did not realize I was buying a CD; I wanted the book. Is there a possibility of replacing my upopened CD with a book?
Clear Vision May 28, 2008 Getting Unstuck is helpful and I know I will be listening to the thoughts over and over. Nancy
Stuck with Getting Unstuck May 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This cd set from Pema Chodron was a disappointment. It was my first time listening to her, and perhaps my expectations were too high. I will also say that I had just completed listening to a cd lecture series from Richard Rohr titled True Self, False Self, which I considered excellent. Getting Unstuck has honest and useful advice about how to meditate, and how difficult it is to stay focused in this endeavor. Pema Chodron's candor is, for the most part, appreciated and appropriate in this context, although I did not find audience participation to be effective. In fact, I got the rather depressing sense that Pema was in a room filled with paticipants who were, one way or another, victims of abuse, victims of addiction, etc. Strengths of the series was its applied orientation - its emphasis on practice and commitment and the little things that help. Weaknesses include the rather unfortunate (and I'm sure inadvertent) "self help" tone of the proceedings, and the fact that the microphone picked-up Pema's every swallow, every aspiration, every oral/nasal sound combination - distracting!
Awesome message... March 8, 2008 This is the first introduction I had to Pema Chodron's work. She presents a much needed teaching with this seminar recording. Regardless of your personal spiritual beliefs, I believe this will help anyone who wants to stop habitual pattens in their life. Pema is charming, soft-spoken, humorous and non-judgemental. I like her style and I plan on picking up more of her work.
