| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Amethystium is a music project aiming to create and explore emotive imaginary worlds in sound. Primarily electronic-based, the compositions traverse a span of moods that includes both light and darkness, bliss and melancholy. They range from the purely relaxing to the subtly intense, creating dreamlike and evocative musical journeys. Formed by Norwegian composer/producer Oystein Ramfjord, Amethystium started out independently with a demo release in late 1999. After quickly becoming something of an underground phenomenon through word of mouth, the project was signed to then EMI/Capitol subsidiary Neurodisc Records and released a string of three Top 10 Billboard charting albums in the US.

Isabliss CD October 4, 2008 This is the 3rd CD by Amethysium, that I have purchased. Although it was pleasant enough, I found something missing in the music. It was not as intense and soul stopping as the previous CDs. But that's OK. It sounds like the artists are maybe taking their music in a slightly different direction and style. Still is good stuff!!
maybe 80's bliss? September 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To me it sounded a little like background movie for a late 80's or 90's movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but just giving an idea out there of what to expect.
All Is a Bliss September 5, 2008 The title says it clearly "Is a Bliss" is joyful blissful relaxation. As stated by another reviewer, Isabliss is less dark than Ramfjord's previous releases - this is what I find most appealing. The melodies are more predominant and there is more use of vocalise than earlier works. Isabliss will be on repeat play for many days.
Entrancing evolution of sonic paradise. August 21, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Nearly four years passed between Amethystium's last album "Evermind" and the release of Ramsfjord's latest release "Isabliss". Though it was certainly a while between including the release of a retrospective "Emblem", "Isabliss" is a marvelous evolution of sound from the past while maintaining much of the spirit of the old. "Isabliss" is comparison has a much more of a monochromic feel, like having a much grayer, more wintry atmosphere. Even some of the songs have a different melodic structure. The album cover artwork perfectly portrays the mood of the album in my opinion: Dark, gray, yet also entrancing and mesmerizing.
Some of the songs like "Treasure", "Anthemossa", and "Silken Twine" are ideal tributes to the atmospherics of their debut album "Odonata". Other songs like "A Small Adventure", "La Pluie", and the Arctic "Frosty Morning Bliss" have a far chillier atmosphere. Even more tracks have distinctly creepy undertones such as "Silken Twine" with it's unique change in melody towards the end.
Overall, "Isabliss" is a welcome and not overdue return for Amethystium. THough some may think "what took you so long?" after the long break after "Evermind", I enjoyed their first three albums and was totally content with Amethystium taking it's time and the end result is yet another fantastic addition to their musical catalog and a new chapter in their history. Highly recommended! :D
Very Good August 11, 2008 Bought Isabliss as soon as it's available and I want to say that it's really gorgeous. As always, the music makes me feel so deep, especially tracks like "Automne", "Frosty Morning Bliss", "Silken Twine" draws so powerful mental pictures in my mind that I feel like flying around the clouds! Only Amethystium does that to me. The vocal performances in "Treasure" and "La pluie" are really "angelic". The track "Unbounded" is a good example of "outworldly new age".
My only complaint for this album is it's not as dark as the previous albums, I would want tracks like "Shadow to Light", "Withdrawal" and "Shadowlands". I hope the next album will be darker.
