5 out of 5 stars Good album, better additional disc.   March 29, 2006

This is an excellent album. Atmosphere that was pre-Overcast is my favorite kind! However the best part of the CD isn't the CD itself, but the bonus disc that features the Headsho7s' Greatest Hits. I'm not even going to review the main disc, it's pretty good, however I think that should be the bonus disc and the second disc should be the main attraction. The second disc contains tracks from The Dynospectrum, Slug, Sess, Beyond, and a few other under the rock RhymeSayers. Every track on the CD is great, which is pretty much hit or miss considering there's only ten. Some of the highlights of the bonus disc are "7th St. Entry" a song about someone who leaves messages in the 7th St. Entry bathroom that are duragatory to Slug and his abilities. The next great track is the best on the CD: "Multiples Reprise [Remix]" this CD blows the other Multiple tracks you may have heard out of the water. The story is all about the many characters of Uptown Minneapolis, and their expolits. It goes into the tales of over ten people and how they all intertwine, and the downfall of each. Track 06 "Funny Colors In My Mushroom Trails" is about Slug and Sess's experiences with Mushrooms. It is hauntingly accurate and will make any shroom user think back and wonder what the eff they were doing. "F**k The Bulls**t" is another awesome track, about people who complain about life when they could very easily fix things themselves with suicide (EXTREME!). The next two tracks are also very good, but like I said no song compares to "Multiples Reprise [Remix]."

Without a doubt pick up the set. If you are a fan of Atmosphere's Overcast! you will definetly appreciate the first disc. And if you are a fan of hip-hop in general you will love the second disc. Thank you much.

OK, im not going to get into @tmosphere politics ie; witch lp is better etc. .....all that im going to say is i own all 6 available atmosphere lp's and both felt lp's and this lp did not let me down at all, head shots is recordings of wich were created between overcast & lucy ford!! it was originaly only avaiable on cassete, being #7 of a cassette series called HEAD SHOTS(no. 7), also SE7EN is "slug's crew"....anyways if you are a REAL HIP HOP fan you should STOP READING THIS AND GO AND BUY IT WRIGHT NOW, unfortunatly now-a-days there not alot of good classic material out there like this lp, so go and cop it, trust me!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Stuff. I cant wait till I get Overcast   February 19, 2006
Wow. The first Atmosphere album I ever got was god loves ugly and immediately I was hooked. I later got Sevens travels and You cant imagine how much fun we're having. But when I was at the store I just happened to notice that they had a copy of headshots so I bought it. I Immediately put it in my Cd player and WOW!! This is probably the best atmosphere album I have heard yet. But then again I havent heard Overcast(Im gonna get it soon) but this is what hip hop is all about. Slugs crazy flow complements Ants "gift from god" beats. Definitely a must have for any rhymesayers fan

5 out of 5 stars How Many HeadShots Does It Take To Get To Se7en??   December 6, 2005

After the release of Se7en's Travels in 2003, The collective duo of Slug and Ant decided to re-release their most popular mixtape to date onto CD format. the 7th volume of the Headshots series is quite possibly their greatest mixtape to date from the well known series. Unfortunately, from what I understand the other Headshots mixtapes can only be obtained in the Midwest region. However, this was my introduction to Atmosphere after hearing this album over a friend's house, then purchasing my own copy, I was instantly hooked on the strategic flow of Slug and on point production of Ant. Atmosphere was my reason for breaking away from the hold that mainstream hip hop had on me(Thank God!). Ever since my purchase in early February 2005, I have many plenty of investments in other underground hip hop, mainly from the Rhymesayers label, among others. Atmosphere fans will agree that out of 5 studio releases, Headshots ranks near the top with tracks like "The Abusing Of The Rib", "Tracksmart" featuring Eyedea and my personal favorite "The Jackpot". Slug's on time and heartfelt delivery will not disappoint fans of underground hip hop.

5 out of 5 stars his best effort   October 25, 2005

Atmosphere has slowly lost my respect as an underground artist. He has slowly been watered down.He has became water that smells like Jack Daniels.Headshots is a straight shot of Jack.No water. The lyrics he brings are fun and slug rode the beats like a real emcee should. The beats are simple but bangin. The rhymes are fun to listen to and every track is worthy of my ear.The fun lyricism that Emenim used to bring is what Slug is perfect at.He has a presence on this album that makes you listen to what he has to say.He entertains.I tune out alot of emcees because of the braggin garbage that comes out of their mouth.IM BROKE.WHY WOULD I WANT TO LISTEN TO SOME QUACK BRAG ON THEIR MONEY,GOLD,RIMS,ETC.Slug doesnt come like that.He is on our level. If you get an Atmosphere album then this should be it.Overcast is the second best from atmosphere.I cant recommend any of their other stuff. Its just not as good.GRAB YOURSELF HEADSHOTS.You'll thank me.
