Awesome! June 2, 2004 This is the best new young group I have heard in years. If they aren't HUGE soon, what a waste of talent that will be. This is like city meets country - love meets lust meets angst - all wrapped up in the some of the most poetic lyrics i have heard. And Daniel Ahearn, the lead poet-singer, is really gorgeous!! -Loving them in NYC
Sophisticated, like country music in 2035 April 27, 2004 An exquisitely crafted collection of songs. I bought this record the other day after hearing about them on NPR's Weekend Edition and I am just blown away. Lives up to the billing, for sure!
more like short stories than music April 26, 2004 ill lit's second full-length, i need you., combines the melancholy-drifter sounds of Americana - lonesome acoustic guitars, on-the-verge-of-tears vocals and strong melodies. The lyrics on i need you. provide such detail that they almost seem more like short stories than music. This is an album for anyone who has ever felt lost; ill lit might not help you get found, but it will give you some beautiful songs to light the way. R.I.Y.L.: Will Oldham, Beth Orton, Clem Snide
