The search continues... November 25, 2008 I've always loved Cyndi Lauper's version of What's Going On (produced by the brilliant Shep Pettibone).
I have the Original, Club and Instrumental versions on CD and have been hunting for the elusive Long Version... until now. Or so I thought.
The one on this CD, unfortunately, must have been transferred from a master track that is corrupted (kinda like a cassette with badly-wrinkled tape). As a result, when listening through headphones, the sound quality is very uneven.
Quite disappointing, really.
I generally love Cyndi, but these mixes are mostly boring June 20, 2008 I'll be upfront and admit that I'm not a big fan of a lot of current dance music. Though I absolutely loved the dance music that was big in the '70s and early '80s, by the late '80s and certainly in the '90s I started noticing a generic quality to lots of remixes. The extended versions (or simply remixes) of popular songs no longer sounded unique but instead sounded like so many other songs. It's with that frame of reference that I review this cd. While I like a lot of the songs here, I generally find most of the mixes overly long and repetitive. There's a certain sameness to a lot of the rhythm tracks, almost to the point where until the singing starts it's difficult to even tell one song from the next.
I love, love, love Cyndi's new dance album, Bring Ya To The Brink, and that's what prompted me to finally pick up this cd. I have to admit that I am seriously disappointed with most of the mixes on this disc, however, and doubt I'll even play it a second time.
Cyndi Lauper's Dance CD May 27, 2008 Dance extended mixes of Cyndi Lauper's Rarities. NOTE: What's going on, World is Stone and a couple of others are NOT remixed, regular version, just hard to find.
Hey Yes February 25, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm not one for 'remixes' but I have to say that this collection is great. Cyndi Lauper's music is amazing, its pop with abit of Cyndi eccentricity but when she's being remixed u either love it or hate it and i must say these remixes are great. I was grooving to them and they still manage to capture that Cyndi Lauper spirit. The rarerities are awesome too, if ur not a fan u wont have them or u'll be collecting these songs on various cd's and singles (and maybe they'll still be on records lol) but they added them here and they're great.
Great Flashback November 5, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you love Cyndi, you'l love this remix CD. Tokk me back to the 80's and also some new music that is always done by the the only one that can Create it. GO CYNDI!
