Amazon.com Available separately or as a package with the associated DVD (the video has 6 additional tracks), this is about as stripped down as performances get. Before regrouping as the Black Crowes in 2007, founding members/brothers Chris and Rich Robinson toured as a duo, with occasional support from two female backing singers, playing small venues. The highlights of a three-night stand at LA's Roxy are compiled here and they are a revelation. Crowes' fans will obviously be thrilled, but this is just as impressive for those who never warmed up to the band's gritty, sometimes shambling Southern blues rock. The set list concentrates on obscurities from the Crowes' catalog and a few stragglers from each brother's solo work. Covers of offbeat folkish material such as "Driving Wheel" (best known through Tom Rush's version), John Martyn's "Over the Hill" and Gene Clark's "Polly," along with Lowell George's "Roll Um Easy," show the Robinson siblings' confidence and willingness to dig far under the surface for gems that wouldn't typically be included in their group's more electrified shows. Chris sings with gritty soul, putting his natural rasp to terrific use as he tears into the material with a passion even Crowes fans likely haven't previously experienced. A closing "Thorn in My Pride" runs in excess of 12 minutes and, like the rest of the show, reverberates with a fervor and intensity that has heretofore remained hidden in the Black Crowes' existing recordings. --Hal Horowitz
Album Description Get up close and personal with The Black Crowes' Chris and Rich Robinson and their stunningly intimate Brothers of a Feather performance, culled from a 3-night sold out stand at The Roxy in LA. Featuring a first time ever acoustic mix of Black Crowes favorites, rarities, solo material, new songs and covers, the CD captures the intimacy of the performances from the Robinsons never captured on tape before.

Can't Stop Listening to this one... August 27, 2008 Great, Great stuff.... shows off the depth that the Robinson Brothers have. Chris and Rich vocally sound amazing. The song selection is unreal, with both Crowes tunes that they pay live all the time but have never recorded on any album with some great covers....You will love this album
Hmm ... not so much February 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a Crowes fan, but don't like this one. I guess I miss the searing guitars and riffs. Looking forward to "Warpaint" in March.
Top CD of the Year December 3, 2007 This is one of my best CD purchases of the year. I love the entire CD. Very soulful.
Buy This Album! Chris and Rich are unreal October 10, 2007 If you buy this album it will be the best thing you have ever invested in. Chris and Rich Robinson are the best musicians of this time. The Black Crowes are the best band of this time and just the two brothers stripped down acoustic are amazing. I was at the Brothers of a Feather concert in Atlanta and it was the best music i have ever experienced. Their harmony is like no others out there. The jam at the end of Thorn in my Pride is an amazing blusey jam. From start to finish there is not one dull moment in this album. Rich is an amazing guitar player. His solo songs such as Forgiven Song and Leave It Alone are amazing. Every cover song is amazing. this is a soulful masterpiece. if you love the crowes then buy this album.
The Best Thing Either One of the Robinson Brothers Have Done Since The Black Crowes October 4, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If your a fan of the Black Crowes or just good old rock and blues music this album is for you. It's nice to hear the brothers back together again and they sound great. There is only one Black Crowes song on the album, "Thorn In My Pride" but the rest is in the same vain and right where the band left off, with one exception: there is no band. It's just the two brothers and some back ground singers. There is only guitar and vocals, no bass or drums. It must have been a very intimate performance because that's how the album comes off. It's relaxed and mellow. It's still has all the edge of the Black Crowes though, which I know sound contradictory but pick up the album and you'll see what I'm talking about. The new songs sound great, the solo project songs from both Rich and Chris sound better than they did on their solo records. To boot there are some really cool covers also, like songs by Tom Rush and Gene Clark. A great eclectic album.
