A musical masterpiece!!! December 1, 2008 This soundtrack is certainly a stellar contribution to the music world, as well as to the collection of those with a penchant for movie soundtracks. It captures the very essence of the movie (of course) as well as holds its own as an aural work of art. To really appreciate it though, first watch the movie then intently listen to the rendition of the tracks as they retell the plot with nothing but beautiful melodies, counter-melodies, harmonies and riveting rhythms that buttress the motifs. Every second of it - even the well placed pauses and measures of silence - is a pleasure for the eardrums; from the simple flute solo to the full-blown anthemic orchestral rhapsodies. This offering is also a sweet blending of mostly acoustic and some electronic sounds/effects. The final track is also a tasteful re-make and a pleasant head-bopping toe-tapper.
Enjoy!

Oogway is reason enough August 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Despite this score being a wonderful piece of music "oogway ascends" alone is reason enough to buy this score!
Awesome movie, great soundtrack! July 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I wasn't sure how this movie would be, mainly because I think Dreamworks pumps out really mediocre animated movies. I was very surprised when I saw the movie to find out that I loved every minute of it. Not just that, but I found myself wanting the soundtrack just as bad as I wanted to see this movie again! Amazing score written for an amazing movie, definitely recommend it.
Great score July 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
once again, another great soundtrack by johnpowell. I basicly bought the cd for the first track 'Hero' featured in the intro of the movie. I thought it was excellent. However after I listened to the rest of the tracks they are all fantastic. If is excellent to see both artists working together to complete this score.
Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting! June 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ok, If you've heard Hans Zimmer's and John Powell's work, and If you enjoy their music, then this ones a no brainer, since they both composed the music for Kung Fu Panda.
However, if you didn't enjoy John Powell's score to "Horton Hears A Who!" and if you didn't really dig the chinese sounds of Hans Zimmer's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End", then I would advise you NOT to purchase this film score.
The music of Kung Fu Panda borrows heavily on Horton Hears a Who and on Pirates 3, which isn't really a bad thing. The themes are fun and refreshing for an animated film, and will allow you to nod your head and just have a good time. When I say Kung Fu Panda borrows heavily on Horton and Pirates 3, I'm simply saying that you might have a hard time distinguishing which music is from which movie.
If you've memorized the themes from Horton and Pirates 3, then you won't have a problem. Maybe this is confusing. Let me put it this way. If you like your chinese music with a little bit of "Hot and Spicy" mixed in with "Fun and Furious" then this is your music.
Think of it like this: Horton Hears a Who meets Jumper, and then it all meets up with Pirates 3. Enjoy :)
