Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
The Formation of Damnation is the 2008 release-- the first Testament studio album of all new material in nine years. This is the first Testament album to feature Alex Skolnick on guitar since 1992's The Ritual, also the first to feature bassist Greg Christian since 1994's Low. Testament are an US thrash metal band from California. Some of their records entered the charts in major markets such as the UK and Germany. Testament has two Top 40 albums and one Top 50 album to its credit in the UK. Their 1999 album The Gathering also entered the Top 50 in Germany. They had minor top 100 album success in the United States.

5 out of 5 stars Anihilation of the Apocalyptic City   November 26, 2008
Crafted by true masters of METAL. This album showcases the songwriting capabilites of Testaments classic lineup with a seasoned outlook of true thrash veterans. Although the cd sounds crisp I highly recommend the double vinyl release. It definitely has more punch than the cd, and better instrument seperation in the stereo field. I had to buy two copies so that I could archive one of them. I will wear them out.
P.S. Welcome back Paul Bostaph, Solid as always.

5 out of 5 stars More encouraging than recent Metallica   November 3, 2008

Testament have reunited the traditional line-up and crafted a surprisingly catchy, very heavy & aggressive new CD that compares very favourably to THE NEW ORDER & LEGACY. Unlike notable contemporaries, they've managed to do it with good production, too. If you enjoy bay-area thrash with attitude, you can't go wrong with this disc. Well worth a listen.

Man, this album is fantastic! Amazing songwriting and classic Testament shred! Definitely a top three album from these boys. You will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Real Thrash at its finest!   October 19, 2008

I've been listening to Testament since the Legacy was released back when I was in High School. After all these years it's great to still have one of the finest thrash bands around...

With bands like Metallica who were pioneers in the thrash seen back when Testament formed selling out today with commercialized garbage it's a breath of fresh air to hear a great band sticking to its roots. This album blows away Death Magnetic in every category. "THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION" is Testaments best work to date and is easily the best thrash album realeased this year.
