Out of this world October 21, 2007
I can't describe this album with words. It's just so BEAUTIFUL....
Every chance i have, i buy copies and give it away to friends. They all loved it , and when they still play it, other people approach them to ask them who that band is...they are amazed!
Every time i hear about this group i think about how unfair the music industry is to all of us by dropping these magnificent artists and letting them go.
This is a real gem, a piece of art. It should be a classic album, an album of all times!
The most enchanting voice ever recorded... May 21, 2007
Mary Fahl... what a voice... beautiful, mysterious, powerful, enchanting... all these words only try to describe the experience of listening to her
voice. I wish I would have had the chance of seeing them live... and listening to her...
Mary's voice, together with perfect songwriting, makes it the perfect formula for an incredible experience listening to this album.
By far, it's their best album, all songs are unbelievably beautiful, but I have my 3 personal favorites:
1. Bury my lovely - it's a hymn to heaven... it's the best way to describe this song... optimistic, powerful, and Mary's voice in total control.
2. Where you are - beautiful ballad, showing Mary's powerful voice.
3. Return to me - the most perfect and beautiful ballad of the last 20 years... it will touch your heart like no other song before.
BUY IT, dive into Mary's enchantment, let her take control of your feelings. You won't be disappointed...

What a hidden gem! The music is beautiful and not well known. This is a wonderful CD.

It has been quite a few years now since I witnessed October Project make their 'Bury My Lovely' video in the loft of a friend's barn in Carnation, WA. They worked tirelessly until around midnight in the darkness with limited lighting from the spots on the set and from the kleigs outside the barn windows illuminating smoke effects generated from a tiny box. It was the first time I had heard the group, and the music was completely spellbinding to me....even after multiple takes to try to achieve just the desired effect. Finally, the group wrapped up the evening and preceded them down the dark barn stairs. I was afraid some of them might fall, so I offered my hand to lead the way. Mary Fahl took my hand, and we descended the stairs of the 100-year-old barn together. The spell that she cast on me then continues to this day. Her incredible haunting contralto voice, her presence in the black trenchcoat and (then) dark hair, her ability to transform the lyrics of Julie and Emil into music magic, and that moment when I actually touched her hand....all of it is embedded in my soul. The other reviews here are absolutely correct about the poignancy of this group's first album. Whatever caused the dissolution of this group, it is a shame and a heartache for the rest of us. One can only hope they will reunite.
