5 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack to a great movie   November 22, 2008
The Batman soundtrack by Danny Elfman is one of the best soundtracks to any movie, ever. There is not a weak track on the whole album. Anybody who has seen the movie remembers the familiar soundtrack. My favorite tracks are 1. The Batman Theme, 2. Kitchen, Surgery, Face-Off, 3. Flowers,
4. Clown Attack, 5. Descent Into Mystery, 6. Attack Of The Batwing, and 7. Up The Cathedral. This soundtrack is far superior to The Dark Knight soundtrack. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Ultimate music for Batman   October 24, 2008
To tell you the truth, I'm a fan of three Batman scores: Danny Elfman's Batman and Batman Returns, Shirley Walker's Batman TAS and Mask of the Phantasm, and Hans Zimmer/James Newton Howard's Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. And when it comes to the classic gothic Batman, I go for Danny Elfman's score.

"Batman" is one of my favorite scores. It has a rugged edge and mystical cosmos. The action sequences are the finest I've ever heard. "Batman to the Rescue," "Attack of the Batwing," and "The Final Confrontation" are the best ones yet. The famous "Descent into Mystery" shows that director Tim Burton's gothic style is a great accomplishment.

And thank God there are no Prince songs here: If U2 and Seal made their "Batman Forever" songs back in 1989, then it would've been a perfect combination. But anyway, I love Elfman's music.

Grade: A

5 out of 5 stars What was I thinking????   December 12, 2007

I bought the soundtrack to "Batman Begins" a few years ago and really liked it. I considered it the best "Batman" score. Then, a few weeks ago, I bought Danny Elman's original score from "Batman". While I still like "Batman Begins" (I like Zimmer and JNHoward), I ask myself now, WHAT WAS I THINKING??? This score is vastly more complex and enjoyable.

5 out of 5 stars One of Cinema's Greatest Scores   April 17, 2006

For anyone with even a passing interest in film scores, or even music in general, this is must-own. Danny Elfman's score for Tim Burton's first (and best) Batman film is, in a word, magnificent. Inspired, memorable, and moving, Elfman's score is easily one of the greatest soundtracks in cinema history. Although fantastic if listened to alone, the way this music is used in the film itself elevates what is other-wise a very good movie into a great one. This score compliments the film so well, it's frightening. The main theme is a perfect reflection of Batman himself: it's majestic and powerful, yet tortured and dark.

This gothic, elegaic score is easily one of the finest soundtracks ever written, and stands as a testament to the power and importance music holds in the world of movies. You'd do yourself a tremendous service to buy this soundtrack, and at this price, you'd be hard pressed to find a reason not to.
