5 out of 5 stars Time Machine on CD   June 4, 2008

This music is absolutely superb. John Barry is a freakin' genius. This soundtrack detours away from "typical" western music into something magical. A suggestion for all listeners -- take your CD player, mp3, what have you, and walk around town with these heart-wrenching songs playing in your ears. The city will melt away around you and the land will be frontier once more...seventy-six minutes of blissful, hopeful heaven. I caught myself staring at an empty lot whose building had been ripped out seven months ago. The weeds were breaking ground in a spot where no life had sprouted for nearly thirteen years. Coupled to the sounds of "Fire Dance", the sight almost made me cry.

5 out of 5 stars One of the finest.   January 9, 2008

I can't add much to what others have said about this expanded edition from John Barry. It's simply one of the finest "western" scores you'll ever hear, and in my opinion, second only to that of Lonesome Dove by Basil Poledouris. Even putting the "western" label aside, it's a must for your shelf...the entire score, from beginning to end, tells a story and by itself produces all the drama you've seen in the film. Among John Barry's best of all time, and that's saying something.

5 out of 5 stars A soundtrack for the ages   September 9, 2007

This soundtrack will go down as one of the best ever. You can not be inspired when you hear it. The bonus tracks on the CD were definitely a plus!!

5 out of 5 stars It only took 14 years for the real version to appear.   March 26, 2007

This has always been one of the highlights of my soundtrack collection. Finally, I have the version that should have been released back in 1990. Why, oh why, oh WHY did it take 14 years for the real version to come out? And why did the producers of the original CD see fit to alter the brilliance of the original 'Buffalo Hunt' cue? Did they think soundtrack collectors would prefer a repeat of track 1? Well, finally great moments in film music history are available. The Buffalo Hunt would have to be one of filmdom's great musical 5 minutes. Other expanded cues bring tears to the eyes and shivers up the spine.

If you love John Barry's music, or collect soundtracks, then buy this now! If you bought the original 1990 release, throw it away and replace it with this version NOW! As other reviewers have said, this should be the cornerstone of all soundtrack collections.

5 out of 5 stars COMPLETE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Dances with Wolves   September 30, 2005

With this soundtrack version, I have the full Dances With Wolves on cd. Fire Dance is what I wanted which was missing for so long from the regular soundtrack. This score needs no introduction, needed by every score collector, fan of movie music, or just people who like good music in general.
