| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Rounder compiled this superb 50-song set to serve as an introduction to bluegrass in general and to their own catalog in particular. Obvious marketing motives aside, the collection has few weaknesses and offers a broad look at the ever-morphing genre. Perhaps more than any other label, Rounder gave exposure to the renegade progressive and "newgrass" musicians who worshipped the style despite the fact that they weren't from the mountains. Folks like David Grisman, Bill Keith, Tony Trischka, and Bela Fleck push the music in new directions while others such as Del McCoury, Don Stover, James King, Jim & Jesse, and Vern Williams represent more-traditional concerns. Still others--Tony Rice, David Grier, J.D. Crowe, Nashville Bluegrass Band among them--adeptly fuse elements of tradition and innovation. This collection also highlights the important contributions of female artists including Hazel and Alice, Laurie Lewis, Claire Lynch, and Alison Krauss. --Marc Greilsamer

Outstanding, in my opinion July 10, 2008 I've only been listening and going to bluegrass festivals for about 2 years now. I still consider myself new to it. This is a great album to have for anyone interested in bluegrass, especially to those who are newish, as I am. It's a great introduction, and it sounds how bluegrass should sound, in my opinion. I've gotten some bluegrass before that sounds as though it's nothing more than a rock band that happened along a mandolin and a banjo. Thankfully, this album is nothing like that.
GREAT BLUEGRASS May 14, 2008 I ordered this cd for my boyfriend who is a bluegrass musician and appreciates true bluegrass. We recently listened to the cd's and really enjoyed them. Most were familiar tunes but there were a few that we were not that familiar with. We enjoyed disc 2 the most. The main reason I ordered it was to buy the song "The Old Swingng Bridge" performed by my late cousin Teddy Lundy. I would recommend this project to anyone who is a bluegrass lover as we are. It is well worth the small price that you pay for it.
Great Bluegrass Mix April 25, 2008 This set has a wonderful mix of music from many different artists. Some of them are familiar, some aren't, but all are great!
Love Bluegrass October 10, 2007 Hand-Picked: 25 Years Of Bluegrass On Rounder Records
Love this CD set. If you like traditional ole' time bluegrass music, you'll like this. It's like going back in time listening to the older musicians and singers.
