4 out of 5 stars A very good live album   August 29, 2008
Iron Maiden cuts loose with some of their staples - like "Run to the Hills" and "Number of the Beast" - but also showcases some of the tracks you don't always hear, like "Flight of Icarus" and "22 Acacia Avenue." The album is very solid throughout, and even its weak points are pretty darn good. I would have liked to see a little more vocal energy on a few of the tracks - Bruce Dickinson really can own the songs sometimes, and when he doesn't you can really tell. That's not to say he's not good on those tracks, but when he goes all out they are exceptional. Still, this album is a must for all Maiden fans, with the definitive cut of "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and some other essential tracks.

5 out of 5 stars A metal classic; best as a 2 cd full version, not a 1 cd edit.   January 23, 2008
This double cd (not the 1 cd release, that edited off side 4 [in the lp days]) of some of Iron Maiden's best songs, covering from the early pre Dickinson days to Powerslave. It has a nice intro (Churchill's speech) then it's all headbanging classic rock. Find the 2 cd one, if you're a Maiden fan. [Same with "Bursting Out" from Jethro Tull, if you like them, like I do, as the original 1 cd left out three songs.]

5 out of 5 stars Best Live Album EVER!   December 30, 2007
If you haven't bought this AWESOME CD yet, Go out now and BUY it Immediately!! This is the best live CD you will ever get, if you are a metal fan. Raw power, emotion and chops. This is the best live album ever, in the world. The version of "Phantom of the Opera" is perfect, as well as the rest of the songs on this exceptional release. Can't rate it high enough...

5 out of 5 stars Live After Death as it was meant to be   December 17, 2007

I remember this was one of the first CD's that I owned, back in the day when CD's came with a booklet not just a two page insert. When this album was originally released on CD it was one disc and one of the best songs, Phantom of the Opera, was not included. The only way to get the other songs was to buy the tape. When this CD was released by Capitol it was one of the best Concerts ever recorded and it was one af a few that was digitally recorded. Most people will agree that for 1985 it was awesome.

Telling people I'm listening to Iron Maiden often gets an odd reaction. A raised eyebrow, a curious laugh or some other tick tells me that the other person has never enjoyed the heavy bass and thumping rock beat of an Iron Maiden tune. One good listen will teach you that Iron Maiden is more than just a thumping head banger's band. This band weaves music with such power and energy, it's hard not to get sucked into the excitement. This album is for anyone who enjoys letting the music raise their spirits and energize their souls.
