| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Buckwheat Zydeco is the leading practitioner of the southwest Louisiana dance music known as zydeco. He was the first zydeco artist to be signed to a major label, receiving two Grammy nominations for his work on Island Records. But to connoisseurs of Cajun and zydeco, his earlier albums on Black Top and Rounder are his best. Shout! Factory is proud to release 100% Fortified Zydeco as part if its restoration of the Black Top Records catalog. Originally released in 1983, it has been named by All Music Guide as the essential first Buckwheat Zydeco purchase. Buckwheat Zydeco's distinctive blend of Cajun, R&B, blues and even pop bears that out.

An excellent re-release! December 12, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This classic Buckwheat Zydeco album has been released on CD. Buckwheat is a long-time favorite among zydeco and blues fans, he plays Clifton Chenier-style piano accordion, rather than the more traditional 10-button diatonic accordion, so his sound is a bit bluesier than some zydeco fans will be used to.
I have to say that while the music on this album is absolutely top-notch, my very favorite thing about it is the cover art, a picture of Buckwheat standing in front of a table of food, all of which is covered in crawfish, even the breakfast cereal. You'll notice that the cereal brand is 100% Fortified Zydeco. Very funny. I'm glad they didn't stupidly choose to "update" the cover art from the LP to the CD.
