If these truly gorgeous lullabies and songs from all over the world don't soothe the savage beast within your child, nothing will. This hypnotic collection of soft and slow melodies--some ancient, some new--is perfect for lulling a child to sleep or for any evening when you want to escape into a warm bath with candles. Carlos Santana accompanies African singer Angelique Kidjo on the sweet opener, "Naima." Claudia Martinez sings "Arriba Del Cielo (Above the Sky)," a lilting traditional lullaby with roots in the Mexican state of Guerrero. The Letterstick Band, from the small An-Barra clan of Australian Aborigines, performs the moving "Yi-Rrana (Sunset)." One favorite is "La Vai Alguem (There Goes Someone)," a hot-summer-night-sounding lullaby sung in velvety tones by Virginia Rosa. Another lovely addition is Kanji Yano of the Sanshin Cafe Orchestra playing a generations-old lullaby on a traditional stringed instrument from Okinawa called the sanshin. The liner notes, written in English, Spanish, French, and Dutch, provide kid-friendly facts about the countries of origin. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Putumayo Cross-Cultural Initiative, a non-profit organization that uses the power of world music and the arts to inspire children to connect with diverse cultures. 5 out of 5 stars Soothing for little souls - and big ones too!   September 23, 2008
A friend of ours sent us this when our son was in the hospital, at 5 weeks old, for open heart surgery. It was a stressful, sad (yet victorious too as it saved his life) time and this cd was a true gift of comfort. We had our laptop and played this cd by our son's crib all night long and often during the day. We slept in the room with him and it nurtured us as well. He is 3 1/2 months old now and we still listen to it most every night. If he's fussing, he stops instantly when I turn the cd on. Song #1 is our favorite. I love to hold him in my arms and dance around the bedroom listening to it, every night before I put him to bed. Each song is very different and it's great exposure to other cultures. Yes, buy this cd!

5 out of 5 stars The most incredible lullaby CD EVER!   May 4, 2008
This is a compilation of the most stunning lullabies I've ever heard. My daughter is 10 months old, and I can't believe that we just discovered this album now! The other lullaby CDs we own pale in comparison to this CD. I can't imagine anyone not loving the songs on this album as much as we do. But it... you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect CD - a favorite!   March 20, 2008
We love this CD!

My daughter goes to sleep to it every night, and we also play it during the day just for nice relaxing background music.
I love that it incorporates so many different types of music...african, brazilian, etc. It is a WONDERFUL CD that I would highly reccommend!

5 out of 5 stars Best Lullaby CD   December 28, 2007
Wonderful, soothing, beautiful, diverse collection of lullabies from countries around the world. I put this in the CD player at naptime for my pre-K class and hit repeat play. I would suggest to anyone with children.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   December 11, 2007
Bought this one a whim; first one I purchased in this series. I absolutely LOVE it. We instantly made it part of our bedtime ritual. I love every song! (which is highly unlike me; I average 3-5 songs a cd at best normally). I think it is also way better than the other dreamland's in the series. Actually, it really is my favorite Putumayo thus far!
