very good collection of the movies July 16, 2008 The city of Prague has done a fantastic job of recording the most popular tracks from all three movies. The sound is very clear and the music is excellently reproduced. My favorite is track seven, which is the end to the first indy movie. They pull out all the stops on this one and it really sounds great!track eight is very flirty and fun also, funny enough it is titled anything goes! They also added this one in english. The Chinese version is fun to listen to.Trek of the ark was kind'a short but it did it's job.The chorus and sybols add a touch eerieness or majesty to it.This'll depend on how you look t it.Overall, this cd was well put together and very affordable, get it,you'll be glad you did. You'll probably listen to it wearing your Indy hat!
Great new version of classic music. June 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been a fan of John Williams since I was a kid, and have had the soundtrack to The Last Crusade -- some of his best work -- almost as long. The soundtracks to Raiders and (in particular) Temple of Doom are much harder to find, however, so I was very excited to see so much from Temple of Doom on this CD.
The musical quality on these recordings is great, and it's really a treat to hear the classic Indy scores with subtly different instrumentation. If you haven't listened to the original recordings a thousand times you probably wouldn't notice the differences, but they are there. While the original recordings will always be my preferred versions, these re-recordings are truly excellent and help to bring the music alive in a new way, so long after the original recordings were made.
If you're looking for a high quality recording of mix of tracks from the first three Indy movies, this is an excellent buy. Similarly, if you are a longtime fan of the Indy series scores, you'll enjoy the subtle variety in this work.
Ouch !!! June 13, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Sorry, but I didn't share the same feeling as above review , this compilation is an insult to Williams talent , it is full of wrong notes, it is a shame that Mr Raine authorize the recording to be sold in such way ...
"New Recordings The City of Prague Philharmonic... Indiana Jones Trilogy (2008) ... Silva Records" May 13, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Silva Screen Records Ltd presents "THE INDIANA JONES TRILOGY - NEW RECORDINGS" -- Nic Raine has total understanding of the action cues with the thrilling counter-love-themes blending in whenever and wherever needed --- John Williams is widely known for all of his film scores, this one has to rank among his best --- From the memorable main theme "THE RAIDERS MARCH", to the touching "MARION'S THEME" filled with the tender meeting between Indy and Marion that will linger in our minds forever.
If you are a big fan of Spielberg, Lucas, John Williams or Nic Raine with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus, then my friends of "The Indiana Jones Trilogy", you've come to the right place --- Get ready for action, adventure and an all around good time as we visit Doctor Indiana Jones and the film scores he has left behind.
Spielberg and Williams collaboration is always faithful to the storytelling, thus we have the 1984 "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", opening with a classic Cole Porter tune of "ANYTHING GOES", with a fine vocal interpretation from Helen Hobson. And who can forget the "MINE CAR CHASE", with the brass sections blaring as the percussion answers the beckon call --- Let's listen to the arrangement of "FINALE & END CREDITS", from Temple of Doom The City of Prague arises to the occasion --- This is where the "new digital surround sound" from Silva demonstrates quality film music from your own personal music system.
Outstanding performance in the opening "INDY'S FIRST ADVENTURE", from "The Last Crusade" gives the musicians a work out, that they must thoroughly enjoy. >From this suite we hear the clarity of "FINALE & END CREDITS", over eleven minutes of of incredibly addictive film scoring---some powerhouse brass explodes from your speakers, spilling all over the room --- Thus we hear action scoring at it's finest hour --- Exciting action cues with bouncy woodwinds and bold brass fanfares abound.
This album contains some of the best of selections of the series --- It may not be as complete as we would have it, but this my "film-score-buffs", is the ultimate in the life and times of our hero ~ INDIANA JONES --- As Silva Screen stays true to the spirit of all the fans of the cinema and the music that makes us laugh and cry --- please stand up and take a bow for this well deserved rare gem you've given us --- this is a keeper!
