Steven Halpern has more than 60 recordings in circulation, including audio projects ostensibly designed to enhance memory, wealth, and weight loss. He even has his own trademarked slogan--the Halpern Effect(tm)! (Take that, Mozart.) Thus, it's easy to view Halpern's high-volume output since 1975 less as art and more like a commodity. Gifts of the Angels, a 68-minute compilation (sampling eight albums and adding two original pieces), offers a few nuggets that suggest Halpern's music at times can stand on its own merits, detached from all of its deep-bliss, New Age pretensions. "Celestial Prophecy," is a nicely detailed (which is not to say complex) excursion on solo piano that briefly stirs the senses, and the title track from Higher Ground is a delicate space-music standout. Meanwhile, the 1970s-flashback tonality of Halpern's electric piano (one piece, "Earthrise," can be traced to Halpern's debut release, Spectrum Suite) dates several of the tracks included here. Nevertheless, the disc's pace, which drifts deeper into the ether on each of the last five tracks, is nicely constructed for those aiming to nod off into a state of contented nothingness. --Terry Wood

 Found the Frequency Hardly Angelic February 29, 2008

Less than enthralled by this collection, I found the pitch to be of such high frequency that it was painful to the eardrums. I was unable to concentrate suffice to meditate. Although I sampled the tracks before buying, reducing the volume of the stereo simply did not create the desired effect. The music would have been quite good had it not been so high-pitched.
Libera, Angel Sublime I and II by Aeola, and the angelic voice of Maria Callas are recommended. Guided angelic meditation cds are avalable from Amazon.com.
 A Great Meditation CD January 18, 2008
My son has ADHD, after a long hard day of ups and downs he looks forward to listening to this CD when he goes to bed and calms him down and makes him think of good thoughts, it's really helping him to appreciate mom more. Thank you Gift of Angels you truly are a blessing for my son.

I guess the customer reviews got my expectations up too high. I think the music sounds too computerized. Hardly "Angelic" in my opinion.

This is very beautiful angelic music. If you died right now, this is probably what you would hear on your way "up" to heaven. That's the best way I can describe this gorgeous collection of synthesized sounds. You may well have never heard anything like it before.
It is so very peaceful and excellent for any type of healing modality such as reiki or massage or meditation or to just play to unwind at the end of the day. If you have trouble getting to sleep, this CD could help, and it runs long enough. You can really breathe in this vibration. This music is truly guided by Spirit. If you have someone who is very ill, I would not hesitate to play this as background music for them. I believe it would give them a sense of peace. You can also play it in your office first thing in the morning to set the vibration for the day. In the office, it's neat to watch peoples' expression when they walk in and listen to what they say about it. Some respond immediately to the peaceful vibration of the music, indicating how relaxing it is. Others ask what you are playing, as if you've lost your mind. Still others just pretend they don't notice it. Yeah, Right! Funny.
This CD has 15 tracks lasting a total of almost 73 minutes, (a tad under 1 hour 15 minutes) with harps and all kinds of synthesized sound. There's even a track with a bamboo flute and it is as exquisite as the finest wine. With tinkling piano keys and what sounds like a heavenly background choir, it is drop-dead gorgeous. If angels aren't involved with Steven in making these recordings I don't know who is. This CD just ain't like earth music. You know those people who write that "hate" music? Well, I'd like to tie them to a chair and play this to them until they give in. Maybe they would finally "get it".
There is also a little booklet that provides a little one/two-liner about each track. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a about a 25. If you meditate with this one you might not want to come back to planet earth!
The tracks have such great titles: "Gifts of the Angels, Angels of Music, Radiance, Pachelbel's Canon in D Minor, Deep Healing, Harmonic Convergence, Ode for Orpheus, Celestial Prophecy, Angels on High, Deep Bamboo, Eternally, Higher Ground, Chakra Healing, The Light in Your Eyes," and "Eternal Om". You may find that the names of the titles alone resonate a special energy to you. The final track is a combination of "Om" chanting plus the music. It is actually Steven himself chanting. If you are familiar with the metaphysical energy-power in chanting the word "Om", it is awesome when combined with this celestial music.
By the way, any music I have ever heard with the Steven Halpern name on it has been outstanding. His music is especially appreciated by those on a spiritual path. If you are on such a path, then I think you REALLY want this CD. Halpern's music is also featured on many of Doreen Virtue's (Angel Lady's) albums, as well as James Van Praagh's albums. Ethereal! This is real SOUL music! It makes you feel like you are sitting on a cloud, in Heaven, listening to all the souls singing to the special Heavenly music. May sound hokey, but it's true! Namaste'

When I heard the samples of this product, I knew it would be one that I would like to have. I gave the two I purchased to two people I thought should hear this music. I have not heard from them regarding this recording.
However, I shall purchase for myself this "Gifts of the Angels" because I want to hear for myself all of it.
