Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com essential recording
In the late 1950s and the '60s, country music was essentially a singles medium. This album, first released in 1967 and reissued on compact disc in 1988, collects Patsy Cline's biggest hits--all of them from the country singles market--including "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams (Of You)," "Crazy," and "I Fall to Pieces." Producer Owen Bradley surrounds Cline's full-throated, emotionally charged vocals with lush, sophisticated arrangements that set the standard for Nashville's "countrypolitan" sound. Before Shania Twain found a new (though not necessarily improved) way to combine country and pop in the 1990s, this was the top-selling country album of all time by a female artist. --Rick Mitchell

Album Description
This is the longest selling album in the history of country music. Released in 1967, this collection of a dozen gems from country music's greatest female voice raced to #5 on the country charts upon release and has spent over 630 weeks on the country catalog charts since reissue on CD in 1988. Digitally remastered/HDCD. MCA. 2003.

5 out of 5 stars Aahh, that's more like it!   July 27, 2008
I've been listening to this album for most of my life. It's just part of who I am. Lately I had economized by transferring my CDs to CDR or my digital devices. Unfortunately two albums, including this, became swamped in distortion and therefore unlistenable.

Finding a new remastered version is great, and all the old feelings came flooding back after this arrived.

I am a crusty old bugger with no faith in humanity or deity, and everything I see or read further confirms my belief in the downward spiral of history. They don't make 'em like they used to, and that's a shame. This album can make me cry. It's utterly, purely perfect.

If there is a heaven, Patsy will will be singing these tunes there. I just hope I get a chance to hear it in person.

5 out of 5 stars Crazy for Patsy   July 24, 2008
I love this cd. Patsy Cline is still amazing after all these years. The recording is so clear. It's like she's right in your living room. I love it, and you will too. Order the cd, you wont regret it. I know I didn't

5 out of 5 stars Discover This (if you haven't)   June 25, 2008
A few seasons ago I was watching Lost and in Ana Alicia's flashback she was listening to Patsy Cline's "Crazy". I thought to myself, "That really is a great song. I should buy me some Pasty." Then when
I went to Hairspray at the Pantages, we stopped for cocktails at the Frolic Room, a small Hollywood bar (and oh so frickin' cool) next to the theater. As some old man danced his last dance to a blues song, Patsy's "She's Got You" came on the jukebox and in the closeted spots of that bar, I realized Patsy Cline was a vocal genius and I was going to buy one of her albums.

As luck would have it, I found this remastered album from 1968 with 12 of her songs (and really the only Patsy compilation I could find that had all the songs I was looking for). While listening to the glory that really is Patsy Cline I read the liner notes which informed me this album holds the record as spending the most weeks on the Billboard country charts than any other album on any other Billboard chart.

It also mentions how for years and years people are rediscovering Patsy's talent and of course this certainly rings true for I am a new Patsy convert. All you have to do is listen to her country/blues/pop stylings and realize this was one amazing woman. I can't believe how talented she really was. But I have to admit my favorite track, though "Walking After Midnight", "Crazy" and a whole slew of others may be personal favs of others, one dose of "She's Got You" and you will be hooked on country, or at least Patsy's country.
