Clean honest fun from industry professionals June 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fun story, fun beats, fun rhyming ... can't wait to have kids so I can share this music with them.
Will put a wide smile on your face, and transport you to a happy jurassic place!
Good old Prince Paul May 15, 2008 If you're looking for the new Gravediggaz, 3 Feet High or Prince of Thieves you may be in for a shock because Prince Paul has taken a direction which actually seems quite obvious - this is hip hop for kids, which suits his style and personalitiy perfectly. Along with underground luminaries such as Punch (Punch & Words) Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and Ladybug Mecca (Digible Planets) Paul has created a wonderful story and some great songs. This is a real treat for us old b-boys and b-girls who are now raising our own little breakers - get it!
Finally a kids CD I can enjoy too! May 3, 2008 I've finally found a CD for my kids that I'm not ejecting as soon as I drop them off at school. I love the Dino 5! The music is funky, the lyrics are super cute and the story and it's lessons are perfect for my boys. I'm super excited to pass this on to their friends and cousins. I can't wait to hear what comes next from the Baby Loves series. I'm going to check out Baby Loves Jazz next!
My baby loves hip hop!!! April 7, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Here comes the Dino 5! This kiddie hip-hop album is produced by none-other than the legendary Prince Paul, and features some of indie hip-hop's biggest stars. You may know Prince Paul from his revolutionary production on the all time classic "3 Feet High and Rising" by De La Soul. It's funny because even in 1988, Prince Paul's affinity for playful beats, clever skits and engaging story lines, suggested his new role of "beat maker for babies." My (almost) 2 year old immediately took to this album. I find him now frequently lurking by the boom box, waiting for yet another dose of that infectious Dino beat! Then he rewinds his favorite songs over, and over, and over... BUT, the thing is, I don't mind, because the music is great! As some one who was raised on Run DMC (read: aging b-boy), I can appreciate the "dopeness" of the beats, yet, as a parent, the very pleasant, bright and cheery sound Prince Paul creates goes well with our rubber ducky life. The message resonates with us, as well, being that my kid is 22 months old, and wears a flat size 6! In typical prince Paul fashion, the album tells a story, with each song representing a different chapter. A group of Dino kids encounter a very scary T-rex on the playground. Naturally they are terrified, and treat him poorly because of this, when T-rex is actually a misunderstood giant, who only wants to play with other Dino kids. In the end, they reconcile, and get together to form the Dino 5 group to perform in the "Dino-school" talent show. Needless, to say, I recommend this album for anyone, weather your familiar with Hip Hop or not. In fact, non-hip hop types might appreciate an example of the music that reflects positively on the culture by highlighting it's traditional role as educator/entertainer. The best thing, is your kids will love it! Props to Baby Love Music... Viva Dino 5!!!
Dino-5 Is All That & A Bag of Chips April 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow! What a find! My kids have the whole Baby Loves Series but honestly Baby Loves Hip Hop is what I personally have been waiting for. The beats are proper but the lessons in the story (i.e. big and scary) reach every little and big human on the how we as human beings sharing this planet earth should be. Love it and guess what gift we will be giving to all the upcoming birthday parties...
