Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
THE FIRST-EVER CAREER-SPANNING SINGLE DISC GREATEST HITS COLLECTION FROM ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL ARTISTS OF OUR TIME One of the best-selling albums of the Nineties, the five-times-platinum, 1990-issued The Best Of Van Morrison, is out of print. For a new, career-spanning collection from the singer-songwriter ranked in the top half of both Vh1's "100 Greatest Artists Of Rock And Roll" and Rolling Stone's "The Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time," only one man could possibly handpick the tracks and oversee their mastering -- Van Morrison himself. That is what the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has done for Still On Top - The Greatest Hits. Spanning his work from 1964 to 2005 on a handful of different record labels, Still On Top - The Greatest Hits celebrates a singer who has influenced everyone from Bruce Springsteen and The Doors' Jim Morrison to Tom Petty and Elvis Costello. Van the Man has been hailed as one of "popular music's true innovators, a restless seeker whose incantatory vocals and alchemical fusion of R&B, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk produced perhaps the most spiritually transcendent body of work in the rock & roll canon" (All Music Guide).

4 out of 5 stars Where are the Liner notes and track information?   August 13, 2008

This a great single cd collection of Van's great hits but it lacks linear notes, musician information, photos, and other credits. Most cds contain these things in a little booklet inside a four sided cover. I am sure that being a serious collector as I am, I would assume other collectors would miss these things.Instead of this there is a note in the inside cover that says to get this information you must go to a internet site. Whats up with this? Is this the future of cds--to save money and not include this information? I hope not, This is why I do not download any cds--I want to have this information right on the cover or inside. I am sure other collectors would agree.

5 out of 5 stars Memories Come Back   August 10, 2008
The best CD brought back so many good memories from my era. Recommend it highly.

5 out of 5 stars Superb   July 17, 2008
A great collection with not a single weak tune in the bunch. I like it, my wife likes, my five-year-old son likes it. The lyrics are thoughtful and intelligent (and generally constructive--a real plus when sharing with a child), and the music is nuanced and varied and genre-bending. I was not deeply familiar with Van Morrison but have enjoyed this disk immensely and hope to explore more of his work.

5 out of 5 stars Van Morrison   June 19, 2008
The CD is a compilation of my favorite Van Morrison songs. They're still excellent after all these years.

5 out of 5 stars Vandave   June 4, 2008
This is one of the smoothest, best put together albums I have ever bought. And with 2500 albums in my collection that's saying a lot. I used to think that Van was a mumbler and most of his lyrics too hard to hear, but this album cleared it all up and I have a new respect for him. A great album!!!
