Apparently there's nothing in Kabbalah that disallows sweaty, head-spinningly good dance music, because here comes a flame-haired Madonna hawking a dozen songs' worth: Confessions on a Dance Floor darts seamlessly from Madge's early days, when she emerged as the genre's enduring darling, through the political, kiddie, and acoustic pap that drove a wedge between her and early adopters of the fingerless glove look. Songs like the pop-leaning "Jump" and first single "Hung Up"--an adrenaline drip on high that, like many of these tracks, will inspire mild shame among those who've thrilled to the much thinner disco-dusted outpourings of younger divas recently--represent both a return to form and an unmistakable march into the future. "Get Together" is a sonic freak-out in the best sense; "Push" traffics in gut-level futuristic trance; and "Forbidden Love" loops in '80s blips and bleeps for a follow-me-into-the-past effect that's both neo and retro. For all the image-affirming innovations here, though, these confessions find Madonna framed in her share of reflective moments too. "Was it all worth it/How did I earn it?" she asks on "How High," a song featuring vocoder. "Nobody's perfect/I guess I deserve it," comes the answer. A later lyrical inquiry is left for the listener to judge: "Does this get any better?" Madonna wants to know. But that opens the door to a dizzying proposition. Few of us would have guessed, after all, that it got this good. --Tammy La Gorce

Album Description
On Confessions of a Dance Floor, Madonna, the most popular and significant female artist in pop music, returns unapologetically to her roots. A stunning blend of musical styles with one foot in early disco and the other pointed toward the future, Confessions On A Dance Floor "is all about having a good time straight through and non-stop," says the Material Mom, who co-wrote and co-produced every track. For Madonna and music fans everywhere, the all-dance, no-ballad Confessions on a Dance Floor is a welcome guilty pleasure.

Madonna just never stops bringing it. It's one thing to make it to the top, it's another thing to stay there and go the distance like she has. 1st time I listened to this CD all I could say was, "she delivered again". Thank you Madonna for still giving us tunes to rock it out to over all these years.

5 out of 5 stars Picture yourself on the dancefloor   June 22, 2008

I was living in Mayport, Florida around this time when the cd came out and none of the radio stations were playing this cd. Nonetheless, fortunately my husband purchased this cd for me as a gift and it has been a gift I have been enjoying ever since. Here is the rundown of each of the songs

Hung Up 7/10 A unique song with strong eurodance background music that in my opinion is a solid beginner. One can easily picture themselves at a danceclub with this song.

Get Together 10/10 A song that I definitely wish would have been played on the radio but is a strong addition to this cd. This song is a beautiful blending of her creative vocals about getting together with someone that mixes well with the complementary background music. When I worked out after work in Florida I would play this song alot.

Sorry 8/10 I liked the beginning to this song where it sounds like she is quoting I think is Italian (feel free to correct if its another language) and I like the way the vocals "I heard it all before" are scattered throughout the song.

Future Lovers 8/10 Again this is another song where the background music really strengthened the song. This is because the background music in my opinion sounded very futuristic and one can picture themselves in a dance club 20 years from now still enjoying this song.

I Love New York 6/10 This song was ok but I admit that that the reason why this song wasn't as highly rated by me compared to the other ones is the good lyrics but I felt more emotion could have been added to the song but still a listenable song.

Let It Will Be 10/10 Very gorgeous and beautiful and classical like background music with vocals that send a positive message to the listener to be peaceful and happy regardless of circumstances.

Forbidden Love 10/10 Another creative and futuristic song that beautifully sounds like a story as she is singing about a love desired but forbidden.

Jump 10/10 I really like this song because it encourages the listener not to be afraid of taking chances and to believe in their dreams and a positive outcome as they are taking these chances.

How High 9/10 A great song where she is reflecting on how far she has come mixed with an upbeat rhythm. This song could also be applied to other people who have come far as well. This is my opinion is the beauty of this song.

Isaac 9/10 A very gorgeous song that is upbeat and seems to pay a respectful ode to Isaac. Listening to this song its challenging for me to understand why there would be critics to this song because if one listens to the song it would be easy to see how she is paying her respects in a creative but upbeat way.

Push 10/10 A very unique song that magically blends what sounds like middle east with eurodance beats about being encouraged to do ones best. Although I think that she is sending her positive respects to her husband encouraging her, on a positive note anyone can picture themselves being encouraged by someone they care about in this song.

Like It or Not 10/10 A wonderful song that sends a message to her critics and fans alike that she is going to continue to thrive and be around. Plus it sends a message about her inspiring confidence because you can tell by the song that she has an enduring but inspiring faith that love for her will grow.

If you are looking for a good cd to dance to and workout too this is definitely one of the gems to purchase.

5 out of 5 stars One of Madonna's Best Albums   June 14, 2008

I am so glad Madonna went back to her dance roots on this album. It has been a year or so since this one came out and I am still playing it hard like when it was on the radio. I have been buying lots of her songs and remix cd's cause what can you say. She is an icon!! I am not a fan of this new stuff she came out with Justin Timberlake. But I just got her Music cd & then the Ray of Light and there are just so many great songs on there that weren't even overplayed. She is an amazing song writer and has worked with some of the best producers in the biz. I luv the clubby feel of this cd. It is good for anyone who loves the disco kind of house sound that in my opinion, she is responsible for solely. Even her first albums in the 80's with Jellybean are to me still classics without a doubt. Anyways I strongly recommend this album if you are in the mood to groove or party. You have got to have this cd!!
