Editorial Reviews:

Before Cat Stevens changed his name to Yusef Islam, he had a slew of hits built around his soft, yet sometimes coarse, vocals. Stevens utilized a variety of instrumentation and rhythms in his predominantly acoustic arrangements, and songs like "Peace Train," and "Another Saturday Night" had a multi-cultural feel to them. Greatest Hits provides a decent overview of his more popular work, including the poignant "Oh Very Young" and "Father & Son." Unfortunately, the delightful yet brief "Tea for the Tillerman" is not present. The lovely "Morning Has Broken" has elements of Stevens's growing concern with religion, philosophy, and the relationship between the cerebral and the spiritual. In the early 1980s, Stevens, now Yusef, "retired" from the music profession because of his new beliefs. --Steve Gdula

1 out of 5 stars Cat Stevens Supports Terrorists   July 13, 2008

Cat / Yusuf has sung for Al Qaida fundraisers.
Cat / Yusuf supported the "fatwa" killing of S. Rushdie , on film, TWICE.

Yusuf has lately been trying to re-write history, denying his past statements.

But the proof is all over the internet.

Don't give this guy any of your money.

3 out of 5 stars Pity he forgot to board the Peace Train himself   May 25, 2008

I love Cat Stevens - a wonderful poet, singer, and wordsmith. Unfortunately, he has turned his talent - and his money - into implements of radical Islamic groups. I could understand his religious conversion, but his support of the 9/11 bombings and terrorist activities is beyond the acceptance of anyone but his "Islamic brothers" in Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Taliban. His money is going to charities, all right - Unicef is one, but other ones are under investigation by those trying to prevent funding for terrorist attacks.

Buying ANY "Cat Stevens" music feeds terrorism and strengthens the grip of its most fundamental fringe groups.

5 out of 5 stars Timeless   April 24, 2008
Over the years I have encountered this compilation through relationships. I alway found myself looking through their collection to find it. I decided it was time to get my own. The music is timeless and always a croud favorite. If you don't have this for your collection, you're missing out.

5 out of 5 stars Truly his greatest hits   February 15, 2008
Cat Stevens is a folk rock icon. His songwriting skills, his music, and his voice are all truly definitive. This classic CD, 'Greatest Hits,' features all of hits.

So how does his arguably best collection measure up?

Positives
-All of the major hits appear here. 'Wild World,' 'Peace Train,' 'Sitting' and 'Hard Headed Woman' all appear here for your listening pleasure.
-Hats off to A&M. The sound quality is excellent!

Negatives
-I would like to see a song like 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' on here.

All and all, this collection is the best starting place for Cat Stevens. Highly recommended for any Cat Stevens fan or newcomer! ENJOY!!!

The CD was so late in arriving, I cancelled the order.
Then I got the CD anyway.
