5 out of 5 stars Amazing   June 25, 2007
This DVD was hot and well thought of. It shows the most beautiful man on the planet. All my friends who never even heard of him, loved the videos:)

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, a MUST for a Morrissey fan   January 1, 2007

This DVD contains some video clips that I guess will be pretty hard to find nowadays. For a Morrissey fan, these are shivering songs, and it's amazing to see these videos now (especially if you never seen them before, like me).

5 out of 5 stars The early feeling   December 30, 2006

I totally agree with everyone about the great feeling that we get from watching this collection. I showed this collection to my pal, who is really only aware to the later rockabilly Morrissey period and Vauxhaul era. He was totally blown away because he said he never knew this side.. the early english melodic side of his music. I said, my friend, what you are seeing is a true time capsule of early fans,...Smiths fans. The fans that mainly knew Moz for his early work and The Smiths. The rockabilly period and style had not occurred. These fans, like myself, were the book worm, shy and probably vegetarian Smiths fans. The video came out at a point when MTV's 120 minutes was at its peak and we all loved seeing Moz on the screen.

I remember buying this when it first came out and on VHS.. now that it's on DVD I had to get it again for preservation purposes. My vhs tape is wearing out. Plus my little nephews will be able to see a great singer and musical influence on a current format when they get older.

I absolutely recommend this collection to anyone who loves Morrissey and who wants to see the early english influence. It is a true time capsule.

5 out of 5 stars Passions and the Passionate   September 19, 2006

"Hulmerist" is a collection of seven Morrissey music videos, all directed by a guy named Tim Broad, woven together with footage of Morrissey fans during the early days of his solo career (late 1980s, early 1990s). I'm a pretty big fan of Morrissey, and I quite enjoyed this little package.

I think Tim Broad does a really good job at capturing Morrissey's passions and obsessions, both lyrically and in his life, by way of the videos. Almost all the main themes of Morrissey's songs are here: bored youth (the teenage girl in "Every Day is Like Sunday"), unemployment (the big haired woman in protest in "Interesting Drug"), the love of old actors and writers (Morrissey's vigil at James Dean's grave in "Suedehead"), animal rights ("Interesting Drug"), we even see an aspiring boxer (in "The Last of the Famous International Playboys". The linking footage of the fans, lined up in queues, chanting Morrissey's name and being frisked by security, shows how intense and overwhelming the scene that surrounded Morrissey at the time. I'd always heard, by way of fan websites and such, that Morrissey had to put up with a lot of junk going on at his concerts. Now I've seen the video for "Sister I'm A Poet" I know exactly what they mean. Young men in a constant barrage jumping onto the stage to touch Morrissey, to hug him, to drag him away. It's amazing that Morrissey can keep on singing the song with all this happening to him, I reckon. What a showman!

I'd say this DVD would be a great introduction to Morrissey and his world. You could pop it on, show a friend what he's all about pretty quickly (the DVD goes for a little over 46 minutes). It would have been nice if there was more footage, and it would have been nice to have some special features, but what is there is fantastic. Recommended.

This Dvd is awesome I ordered from amazon because it was never released in the united states only in the uk.I love the video ouiji board which did not appear on the oye esteban collection I Highly Recommend this dvd To True Morrissey Fans. Because Morrissey is probrably the best singer other than David Bowie to ever egxist. Which is more than I could say about this corrupt music industry which seems to be releasing junk..........
