Editorial Reviews:

Description
Kitaro, who's been called "the quintessential musician of the New Age", has been breaking barriers, geographically and musically since the late 1970's. His World Tour, recorded live, is even more forceful, intimate and direct than studio incarnations. Kojiki: A Story in Concert, translated as "The Record of Ancient Matters", is a compilation of traditional Japanese lore that was recited orally from generation to generation until the 8th century. Whether on the eerie "Hajimari", the lyrical "Sozo", the sorrowful "Koi", the haunting melancholy of "Nageki", or "Reimei", with its electric guitar jam session, Kitaro's music has never been sharper or more spirited.

Kojiki is one of kitaro's best works.
The Americanization of this Story of the creation of Japan set me off a bit. The CD is much better.

5 out of 5 stars Superb music.   June 16, 2003
Kojiki is definitely one of the most beautiful concerts I've ever heard. Although the DVD does not have a great image quality, it is well worth its content. Seeing Kitaro conducting the other musicians and playing at the same time is amazing. As someone defined above, this is truly a "symphonic poem".

It was great to find this DVD after seeing the concert some years back. If you enjoyed the concert you'll love this DVD.
The picture quality is pretty good (looks like it may have been a laser disc?)and is acceptable for DVD.(Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells concert seems to be the best quality I have seen to date) The sound quality would have been better if had been in PCM.But still a great disc.

5 out of 5 stars The vibration of a tale...   March 5, 2002

This is a story turned into music. You should read the story and then try to get the kind of feeling Kitaro had to create this music.
I find this work unique and fascinating. If you practice Tai Chi
some of its parts can be useful for "dancing" that way. I also find some parts good for meditation.
Kitaro is a genius, composer and drum player.
The making of a tale in music becomes a legend by istself !!!
Try it.... Enjoy it.... !

Como siempre la musica de Kitaro siempre increible, pero este DVD desperdicia la capacidad de imagen completamente para convertirse desgraciadamente en un buen CD de musica.
