Editorial Reviews:

Description
Revolutionary composer Kitaro is renowned for his ability to embody the spirituality of nature and humanity through his music, often using non-traditional instruments and extremely theatrical performance styles. As a winner of Best New Age Album at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards (for "Thinking of You"), Kitaro continues to inspire and create music that captures the vital, earthy, as well as ethereal aspects of existence. Pioneer Entertainment is proud to present Best of Kitaro - the culmination of his most celebrated and bewitching performances: Kojiki: A Story in Concert, An Enchanted Evening, Light of the Spirit, and Tamayura.

Once again pioneer are to blame for another poor quality DVD,im talking about picture quality it is simply inferior and not upto what is expected of the format, like an "enchanted evening" give it a miss until pioneer get their act together and produce a disc worthy of buying.

200 years from now, as they look back on 20th Century composer/keyboard artists, they will be looking at (and researching) Kitaro, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream and Rick Wakeman (like we do Beethoven and Mozart). In their research they will find vinyl and plastic historical records of artists that transposed reality through their music and video. These men left traces of a history (not only of their times) that is as timeless as the genius that they posess. They create music without mass market appeal, yet recognized some what in it's own time ( but not as much as it will be in the future). The DVD quality is excellent (much better than VHS). The selections are mixed fron various Kitaro concerts and flow together very well for almost two hours of beautiful concert video. The color tones throughout the video concerts are the result of stage lighting (or maybe the other reviewer got a defective DVD). This DVD also contains a rare interview with Kitaro from his home in Boulder, Colorado where he gets much of his inspiration from the natural surroundings of the area.

The DVD quality is excellent (much better than VHS). The selections are mixed from four Kitaro concerts and flow together very well for two hours of concert video. The color tones throughout the video concerts are the result of stage lighting (or maybe the other reviewer got a defective DVD). This DVD also contains a rare interview wih Kitaro from his home.

2 out of 5 stars very good sound, terrible video   July 4, 2001
While I'm quite pleased with the sound quality (4 stars) of this DVD, the video quality is pathetic and inexcusable. Even worse than an old movie made in the 1940s. Almost like looking through a haze. The color is so discolored, reddish, yellowish, whatever. It gets progressively worse. When I reached track No. 10, I had a headache and had to turn off the TV. Now, I can only use it as an audio CD. Don't waste your money on this DVD.
