Total lack of sensibility January 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
How could someone be able to destroy it's own work? Imagine yourself listening to G. Winston's wonderful and inspiring music when suddenly someone starts to talk at loud "during" the concert to comment about it, disrespecting everybody that was enjoying the show... Now imagine that this insensitive person with inappropriate behavior is the musician itself... and finally imagine yourself gently breaking your DVD in various little pieces and being grateful you will have an extra spare case.
Great Performance December 21, 2007 My wife and I were fortunate enough to see George at an intimate jazz club setting last Spring. This DVD captures the essence of Winston's amazing hands and ability to bring the piano to life! He truly is one of the greats. My wife is a new age pianist and her two idols are George Winston and Rick Wakeman (The pianist from the legendary rock opera group "Yes")
Great music, bad editing July 7, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love Winston's music. Every song on here is great, and the performances are fantastic. So if those are your only criteria, stop reading and place your order.
However, I wish the team that produced this video had done a better job editing it. Placing George's comments DURING the songs was a horrible idea, and I can see how the nature images (which I personally love) can interrupt one's enjoyment of the performance. The makers of the DVD should have give the viewer three choices: straight concert footage, concert footage with Winston's commentary, and concert audio with nature footage. That way, no matter what experience you wanted, you could get it.
Short of excellent. November 23, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have seen play Mr.Winston live in Mexico City and in Barcelona, he is definitely a gifted man. His music is beautiful and really inspired BUT BUT BUT!!! he talks in the middle of the piece! understand that when you are lying down relaxing hearing and seeing this wonderful images the last thing you want is an explanation of what we see and hear I WANT TO SIMPLY ENJOY THE MOMENT!!!. Also take note that Mr. Winston loves to play the Hawaian guitar and even though he does it ok I prefer the piano 1000000 to 1. Just remember Michael when he tought he could play baseball, remember?. The video is worth seeing, but it is definitely not worth more than 3 stars. Enjoy!
He talks over the music November 5, 2003 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
He talks over the music. Do they try to make people buy a CD or should people download to compensate for the loss? When he was talking, it also made me realize that his music is probably pretty boring so the talking is somewhat compensating.
