Great Value!!! October 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a simple and very affordable sound bar...can't go wrong with this one. It's easy to install/setup; just don't expect too much from the subwoofer.
Not bad especially considering the price. October 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you're a hard-core audiophile, this product probably isn't for you. I wanted something decent, small, and cheap for my office and I didn't want a lot of wires running all over the place. The HTCT100 has worked out well.
Annoyances: 1. I wish the subwoofer/controller unit wasn't so big. 2. the Tivo remote does not seem to have a code to control the volume/power for the HTCT100. 3. Manuals for electronic equipment is never good. The documentation the HTCT100 is especially bad. 4. The menu structure is hard to manipulate and understand. This might be related to annoyance #3 though.
HINT: the sound quality is only ok until you press the "Sound Field" button on the remote to change the sound mode. The default is "standard" and it sounds flat. Set it to "Movies" and you start getting that "surround" theater sound.
HDMI Cables Are A Must!! October 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this set up after allot of research online. I was ready to pay more than double the cost of this one for some other soundbars and the reviews just weren't as favorable.
When I first hooked it up, I used the included optical from my PS3 to the amp and during my first couple tests watching BlueRay movies, I had to have it on MAX sound and it sounded good but I didn't like it having any extra power. I was ready to return this unit and started researching some of the competition again when I decided to try hooking it up via HDMI before returning the unit. I popped in a BlueRay and much to my surprise, I had full rich sound at around 35 and MAX was too loud for standard viewing. I was thrilled b/c I always liked the quality of the sound, just not the max power output.
This is a real bargain for such a quality audio output at such a low price. I am very happy with my purchase
Excellent Sound Quality & HDMI Switching! October 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had shopped around quite a bit for a nice sound system to go with the projector I use to watch TV/Movies... This device is really handy because it includes HDMI switching for 3 devices, which allows me to have a single HDMI cable going from this to the projector and this does all of the source switching.
The speaker is compact, but produces impressive sound, the subwoofer (which many competing system's don't include) is pretty small and able to be hidden away in most circumstances. Note: the wire that connects the speaker to the sub is about 10' long, and somewhat heavy-duty. It could easily be run through a wall since the speaker has mounting holes built in to the back.
The subwoofer contains all of the connections for the system, 3 HDMI inputs, other audio inputs (2 optical in, 1 coax in, 1 RCA in), a DMPORT input for special sony devices (iPod dock, etc) and then 1 HDMI output for your TV/Projector.
For the price, I don't think you could beat this unit. Plus it is really nice not to have all of the wires for multiple speakers (and the speakers) cluttering up your room.
Not what I expected September 22, 2008 4 out of 18 found this review helpful
I like the design of this sound bar but the sound is not what I expected. It sound like my TV. I need a little more kick so I returned the unit to Sears within 2 weeks of purchase but Sears charge me 15% re-stocking fee even I returned with the original box, and containing all original product packaging and accessories and looked like it had never been opened. . Buyer beware of Sears.
