I bought 4 of these units. They always did not work with each other, even when I cloned one from another. Sometimes the alphanumeric tags were truncated. They did not seem as reliable as advertised. The range was nothing special either.

TSX very cool radios if you want no enterferance at all. Offer a lot of cool thing. Probably you can compare the range to any 22 mile radio. Signal very clear. FCC Free. Like somewhere in disney land or other possible enterferance place there radios would be defenetely N1. Feels very comfortable in your hand. Looks like a old models of a cell phone which i think pretty cool if you wanna use those without people looking at you like your detective or something.Nice Package , very fast delivery , awesome deal. Btw range may vary depending on the terrain you live in. Couple miles i would say max range at the city.
better then the talkabouts May 7, 2008
I bought these because the talkabouts that the company was currently using just couldn't cut it. I work in chiller plants so end having to talk with people on the roof while in the basement. Both parties are surrounded by lots of metal and concrete. The voice quality is ok, alot of background noise gets through. but with the texting function we can still talk to each other.

I purchased and returned a pair of 300s... They work for a limited range, some background noise is always present I believe as a result of a not well filtered spread spectrum implementation. Some "beating" in the background. I returned them and renewed my GMRS license.

The review that claims the user needs a FCC license to use a Motorola radio is plain wrong. Yes, you do need a license to broadcast on the spectrum the Motorola radios use - just like you need a license to broadcast on the spectrum cell phones use. And just like your cell phone company bought a license for the spectrum your phone uses to allow you to use your phone, Motorola has a license for the spectrum the Motorola radios use too. So *YOU* do *NOT* need an FCC license for a Motorola radio - Motorola already got one for you.
