The song "With Out You" was alone worth Buying the Cd. Some of the songs are luke warm but, all in all, it's not a bad Cd.
Beautiful & my fav MC album! February 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Classic album is awsome simply put. Every song is a delight, of course there is the timeless HERO that cannot be beat, its one of the most amazing songs of all time, and ANYTIME YOU NEED A FRIEND both of which are so inspirational and uplifting. Listening to this album when your down can make everything feel like it will be okay! The lead single DREAMLOVER is another classic that is still played on radio today 15 years later! Two more of my favs are ALL I'VE EVER WANTED & MUSIC BOX. Last but not least my absolute fav song on this album is WITHOUT YOU. Mariah makes this song her own and her vocals are as always amazing but I think especially in this song. Its beautiful! This is Mariah's masterpiece & classic, its also her best selling record and a album everyone should own!
A Classic February 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Before the drama of "Glitter", during the height of her popularity, Mariah released this short and sweet album, "Music Box". A sparkler and extremely memorable, this album holds strong even by today's standards, and continues to sell well. Once upon a time, Mariah really could belt out a tune, and "Music Box" proves it. A far cry from the more hip hop oriented work of her later years, Mariah worked with a combination of writers and producers that equaled success. Maybe it wasn't exactly what she wanted to do artistically, but it was one of the biggest musical phenomena of the decade.
One of Mariah's most well known songs emerged from the track listing: "Dreamlover" would go on to become one of the biggest hits of the year and at the time was Mariah's highest charting song ever. The flawless recipe of bouncy beats, charming bells and lighthearted lyrics made a completely unique concoction that hadn't been heard before. The other tracks on the album easily fall into the adult contemporary genre, with the gorgeous ballads "Never Forget You", "Just To Hold You Once Again" and Mariah's other huge hit, "Hero". The lyrics are typical mid-90's sap, but coming from Mariah they sound stunning. She had the huge voice to carry such sensitive and otherwise lifeless material. Mariah presents these songs better than almost anyone else could. The actual song "Music Box" is entirely charming and beautiful and it's a wonder it was never released as a single.
The fiery dance tracks, "Now That I Know" and "I've Been Thinking about You", are extremely catchy numbers, the former being an exhausting and addictive declaration. "Without You", which may be Mariah's best selling single internationally, sounds fabulous with her vocals laid over the simple melodic arrangement. Though I'm not a fan of covers, Mariah did a great job with it and made it her own: More complex than the original, it nearly outshines all other versions.
"Music Box" may not be Mariah's best album, but it's certainly one of the more cohesive ones she's done. Nearly fifteen years after its release, several of these songs still appear on the radio. That certainly suggests staying power.

Wonderful Album - expresses early 90s December 2, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I liked this album very much when it was released. After listening to it, it very much grew on me. Every once in a while I would find a different song that would speak to me. I found all the songs, without exception, to be beautiful. It's definitively a classy album, and a great representation of the early 90s. Some people commented that this album doesn't have much variety, that all the songs sound pretty much the same. I have a great appreciation for this. This CD puts you in a specific mood, and it doesn't ruin it for you in the middle. If you are over the 90s type of production (crispy sounds), it's unlikely you'll appreciate this album. I'm definitively over this album now. Sound production matures from year to year, plus older people are less likely to appreciate crispy sounds than kids and teenagers. Thus, for this, physical, reason you may not experience the complexity of this music. Listen to the samples and you'll know if you can take it.
