If you are a LuisMi fan than you will probably like this CD; if not than you will probably bash it and say it is no good. Somewhere in between lies the real answear. Is it good? Yes. Is it great? No. Is it better than most of the romantic pop Latin music out there ? Yes. You must understand that LuisMi employs the best people to produce his music and the results are top notch productions. First of, it was nice last summer to see a release from him where romance wasn't in the title. I bought it up thinking he's moved on; after listening to the opening track, "Un Te Amo' I quickly realized the formula was still being used. It is a departure of sorts but a full circle anology might make more sense. This is the closest CD that he has released that has the pop luster of his wonderful disc entitled "Aries." This is clearly evident on the second track entitled "Con tus Besos" where the uptempo pop stylings of "Aries" come through like a flashback. About half of the songs are in the pop vein and the rest are more "Romances " like tunes. Some of the songs are just too gushy. Also some of them lament a lost love way too much which is an ongoing theme running throughout this disc. Don't get me wrong the lyrics to the boleros are by and large quite poetic and beautiful but some are just too sappy. On "Ahorra Que Te Vas" where he states "si algun dia te vas al mar recuerdate de mi" (if someday you go to the ocean remember me) everything is fine until the syruppy lyrics go on to say later "llorandote en mi almohada pienso en ti"(crying over you on my pillow thinking of you). Come on!! Crying on your pilow? Was he biting it too? Was he on his stomach and kicking his feet too? Guys don't cry in bed over women. None that I know anyway. Sorry ladies even LuisMi wouldn't do that. Anyway this is the type of corniness that goes way beyond the sesitive male and makes for a drippy song. Back to the good stuff though. The popish formula of songs like "Vuelve, " Eres " and "Con Tus Besos" are uplifting , in spite of their melancholy theme, with their fine chorus and strong arrangements that gets you going with their lush jazzy and orchestral backing. Overall this is not his best by his standards but pretty darn good anyway. A three star LuisMi disc is a four star disc for most other artists in this genre. If you are a die hard fan get it, otherwise try "Aries" or one of the gazillion "Romances" discs to see if this is for you.
A MUST BUY CD February 21, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album is one of his best. I really enjoy listening to it over and over. An absolute have for any fan. A MUST BUY CD!
Pretty typical and not up to expectations February 17, 2004 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed with this CD to say the least. With the exception of "Que Tristeza" and "Te Necesito" this CD is so typical, it gets boring. I have always been a great fan of Luis Miguel, but with this one he lost it. Don't waste your money.
Could be better. January 30, 2004 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is not one of LuisMi's best. Some songs are good. Overall, his music is still way better than Sicky Martin!
BORING! SAME OL' FORMULA.. no artistic progress! January 22, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This album is so disappointing. This sounds just like all the others. It's becoming so tiring to hear the same old sappy melody over again and again. The only refreshing tracks on this album are "Te Necessito" and " Que Tristeza". If it weren't for these 2 songs I'd give this CD zero stars. The others all suck! He needs to take some musical risks and do more cutting edge songs. I'm not buying another CD before I hear the whole darn thing!
