5 out of 5 stars It's That Album You Like!   April 15, 2008

Wow, this album is just amazing and one of her best albums. I think it's way better than MIMI.

1-)Migrate - One of the best songs on the album. This should be a single, my only complain is i think T-Pain's part is too long. 10/10

2-)Touch My Body - Her 18th number one, soft, sexy fun and catchy song. 10/10

3-) Cruise Control - To be honest, i didn't like this song at first but now i like it. Her Jamacian accent is so cool. 7/10

4-) I Stay In Love - Great Ballad, very good song. Her vocals are good on this one too. 8/10

5-) Side Effects - My favourite song on the album. The beat and lyrics are amazing. 10/10

6-) I'm That Chick - One of the best songs on the album, you just want to turn up the volume and dance, i like her "oh wee" vocals. 9.5/10

7-) Love Story - Well, it's a good song but not my favourite... 7/10

8-) I'll Be Loving You Love Time - Good pop song, catchy but it's avarage 6/10

9-) Last Kiss - Mariah's favourite song on the album. It gets better after listening to it few times. I like it. 9/10

10-) Thanx 4 Nothin' - I love the lyrics, beat is good too. 8/10

11-) O.O.C - Awesome! I just love it, very upbeat and danceable song! But "it's forever" parts can get annoying. 9.5/10

12-) For The Record - Chrous is amazing, and Mariah used her old songs name in the lyrics. 10/10

13-) Bye Bye - So emotional! I just wanna cry when i hear this. No need to say more. 10/10

14-) I Wish You Well - What a voice! And gospel style... 9/10

I strongly recommend you to buy this album! You'll be lovin it long time!*

5 out of 5 stars Butterfly now has competition.   April 15, 2008

I didn't think there'd ever be a time Mariah would be able to almost upstage her 1997 masterpiece, Butterfly, but that time has come.
3 years after her huge comeback, Mariah releases E=MC2. This cd is SOLID. It's a blend of everything you'd want in a Mariah record: Fun songs, tear-jerkers, and experimental tracks.
Easily her best album of this decade. Good job Mimi.

5 out of 5 stars GURRRRLLLLL u better WORK!!!!!!!!   April 15, 2008

After the FLOP that was GLITTER i really wondered if someone with such an amazing voice like Mariah Carey could ever make a come back. She proved she was still bursting with creative energy when Charmbracelet was released on a new record label known for its lackluster uninspired Hip Pop/R&B acts. Even though Charmbracelet wasn't really ground breaking it was way better then Glitter. But the album was a dud compared to what we've come to expect from Mariah and the album really didn't generate any attention and to this day i still haven't seen any of the music videos from that album aired on TV or anywhere for that matter. Fast forward to 2005 and we get the comeback album everyone's been waiting for. Though the Emancipation of Mimi was a great album it still had a few tracks that were just boring and uninspired. As good of an album as it was I didn't think it deserved all the hype that it got (The same goes with the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill). That's to be expected from a commercial artist. Now to E=MC2, this is a great album and in a lot of ways surpasses EOM. The first 7 songs are beyond addictive. The beats and hooks just REEL you in and is a TOTAL HIGH for the EARS hearing sensation. After track 7 you get a dud here and there and then you get another hit and then you have the album end with a crappy song which i don't care for. Overall i am very pleased with the new release and so happy it's finally out as i was expecting this release since Thanksgiving 2007. Mariah seems to be in the R&B realm and has no intention to return to pop music at all. In a world of music that really has boring uninspired R&B talents, it's nice to see someone like Mariah who is able to DELIVER the GOODS. As stated earlier with any release from a commercial artist you can usually expect about 4 great songs and 5 if you're lucky. Well with this album the majority of the songs at least 70 - 80% of the tracks are awesome with only a few dwindling ones in between. I can't wait to add the songs to my iPod and i am also looking forward to the Madonna album. I am not comparing the 2 artist but they have new releases in the same month and both have been in the business for over a decade so i can't wait. I really do wish Christina Aguilera was able to go in the same direction as Mariah. When Christina first burst on to the scene with a voice like hers everyone thought she was going to be LEGENDARY like Mariah & the sometimes Whitney Houston. But then her 2nd album STRIPPED came out and she seemed more like a female CLONE of the low budget Eminem then a real SINGER with great vocal range. Anyways I digress. Mariah you really are giving WHITNEY HOUSTON a run for her money...oh wait, WHITNEY isn't even in the RUNNING lol

4 out of 5 stars Mariah's Formula for Success   April 15, 2008

'E=MC2' is Carey's follow-up to the successful 'Emancipation of Mimi'. Instead of trying to top her last cd, Carey attempts to stage a musical sequel to 'Emancipation'. The question is does this new cd meet all expectations? It's hard to top her last cd but in general, 'E=MC2' is just as catchy and addictive as the previous cd. What I appreciate from this new release is Mariah's willingness to work in some personal anecdotes from her life that she hasn't talked about as much into some of her songs. "Side Effects" is definitely the song that stands out from this new cd as Mariah actually sings about how she felt in her marriage and the song is a very different sound for her that works; very edgy, hip-hop, revealing.

Other songs that stand out are: "Migrate" featuring T-Pain, a party/club song similar to "It's Like That" with an addictive hook. "Cruise Control" where Mariah shows off some of her humor and one of her better vocal performances on the release by attempting to mimic a Carribean/Jamacain vibe. "I Stay In Love" which, in my opinion, is the far superiror ballad on the cd with Mariah showcasing her lower-register for a change. Also, "For the Record" happens to be another song that I think will appeal to die-hard Mariah fans where the vocals and production really blend well to create a song that'll have you holding your breath throughout and works in song titles from previous songs into the lyrics. "I'll Be Loving You Long Time" is an interesting upbeat song similar to "Your Girl" from the 'Emancipation' and of course, last but not least, the upbeat raunchy but classy "Touch My Body."

The other songs are good, but kind of get lost production wise. It took some time for me to get into this cd simply because I was waiting for and expecting Mariah Carey to really break out into some vocal aerobics but oddly enough she's chosen a new direction for this release and plays with her lower register and tone. It was a bit of a let down that the great vocals we've come to expect from her were missing from this release. Instead, we have a release full of mediocre to great commercial songs that are ready for the radio. I wish more had gone into varying up the style and genres of the songs as was done with 'Emancipation' but oh well, this is decent and still better than a lot of music being released. Here's to hoping she has a lot of success with this era of her music and yet manages to hold onto her impressive vocals that got her to this part rather than getting caught up in songs that sound commcerial and are put out just in hopes of being future #1 hits.
