| Customer Reviews:
Loreena is great May 27, 2008 Saw her live and enjoyed her and the band very much. I was hoping this CD and DVD would recreate that experience and it mostly does. If you like her music I think this is definitely worth the money.
Celtic pleasure May 21, 2008 If there is a singing goddess it is Loreena McKinnett and Nights from the Alhambra is proof. The only problem with her music is that it seems to reverberate in your mind long after each performance. Her vocals are unforgettable and the accompaniment magical with a wide array of unique instruments rarely heard in any venue. In addition to the sheer joy of lsitening to her performance, the lyrics provide a veritable history lesson about the mysterious Celts. As a testimony to her skill as a singer/musician, I'm not sure Ms. McKinnett is capable of a poor performance. She is both an artist and professional and obviously committed to excellence.
wonderful May 20, 2008 This wonderful recording is like Loreena's greatest hits. I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes Loreena or who is trying to decide which CD to try first. The DVD concert is very nice because after listening to her music all these years it fun to see what all the nstruments look like. Her voice is so polished and her delivery so perfect that there is no distortion like sometimes happens with live performances.
A Most Enchanting Evening... May 4, 2008 I love her music and I've been a fan of L.M. for a long time, but seeing this performance on the DVD has given me a new perspective on her talents - she is just an amazing lady.
This most interesting and exotic collection of musicians and musical instruments set in one of the most beautiful architectural structures I've ever visited is an enchanting and perfect combination.
My only regret is that I was not at the Alhambra for that magical evening...but I was absolutely spellbound viewing the performance on the DVD while sitting on my sofa.
This is one of my best and favorite musical purchases.
Loreena McKennit - Nights from the Alhambra May 2, 2008 I really enjoyed watching the DVD when I got this. The visuals include some almost 'arty' cut-aways from the stage set to show some of the surrounding architecture etc including some interesting outside day shots. Very well done and appropriately enhances the viewing experience. (All the songs are on the 2 CDs as well)
The music is easy to listen to, typically celtic of course - but mixed with it's own unique flavour. Lereena's singing is easy on the ears, although I did find after a while some songs seemed similar to others. Probably not the best idea to listen to the whole show in one sitting when it is late and you are already a bit tired :)
It is always a pleasure to watch extremely skilled musicians playing. Overall impression: great songs, good singing and an incredible setting.
