Disappointed... June 24, 2008 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
Frankly, I am disappointed. However, I do give him credit for variety. Yes, I hear "Burt", early 80's, Blood and Chocolate, etc....but the nah, nah, nah's were a huge turn off...(and please, let Jenny Lewis do her own stuff) and I know "my three sons" is touching, but - again - can anyone say "corny"! Gone are the days when I would listen to an Elvis CD day and night for months on end....I may pull this one out in 2010. After 30 years I may finally have to move on...DCFC anyone? Too bad, I've been a life long fan.
More Elvis Costello Please June 16, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a very good album. Any fan of Elvis Costello's should definitely enjoy it. For people who are new to his music I would recommend "When I was Cruel" first.
A Very Good Album June 14, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Momofuku is a very good album. A little bit of everything. Its hard for Elvis to match some of his early stuff, but this one comes pretty close. Any EC fan will like this one, but I think it will appeal to more than just the hardcore fans... 'Why don't you come back baby, why don't you go away'
a very good album from Costello June 12, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't think I would call this a return to form, as Costello's form has been at a very high level for the last several years. However, it is an album from a man who said he was done with making albums. And, it is very good. It is similar, in some ways, to Blood and Chocolate, Brutal Youth and This Year's Model. It apparently was a one-off effort and has that kind of feel. Lots of spontaniety and a fresh, raw sound. If you like Costello and/or enjoy the albums above, then you will enjoy this album a geat deal.
Classic and Fresh June 9, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Elvis has managed to give us something fresh while remaining true to the classic late '70s EC&tI sound and feel.
