5 out of 5 stars Guys With Perfect Pitch!   May 2, 2008
This is a bit of a 'fusion' album, but the leading genre is what I would call 'lyrical pop'.-----What makes these guys stand out for me, is that it is rare to find passion AND perfect pitch in a pop-classical sensibility!-----The production values of the songs are high, and even Josh Groban does not 'let loose' like these guys with sustained, crystal clear and passionate notes. These guys just sing their hearts out and it comes through!! They will be under-rated by those who cannot pick up the breathe-taking moments that come from this kind of 'no holding anything back' singing.--- I could hear these guys sing row, row, row your boat and be pleased!----I say thank you to both of these Canadian young men for giving me those shining musical moments in every song!-------Hope fame does not ruin these very fresh and REAL voices!

I've had this CD for several months now and I think RyanDan are fantastic. Their voices mesh so beautifully together. They are definitely artists to watch! I especially love "Tears of an Angel"! That is one gorgeous song!

3 out of 5 stars Just nice   January 7, 2008

Great talents, for sure. A bit of boyband's freshness and lightness too. I'm sure the album easily pleases crossover opera lovers but the purist.
Not so good song choice, though.

To me, some songs covered turned out to be weakness of the album. I'll Be There, The Prayer, Wind Beneath My Wings. I'd rather skip those songs and listen to the duo's own compositions instead, such as the spiritual The Face, the optimistic and sweet Like The Sun, the friendly You Needed Me or the tragic Tears of An Angel. Their emotional style of singing doesn't bother me a bit. I happen to like the style as to enrich and lit up the songs. Vibration seems to be much but I think that it's just right. Lyrics are quite good too. No objection there.

I, therefore, look forward to their next album hoping that original compositions will be predominating tracks.

5 out of 5 stars If you don't buy another cd this year, buy this one!   December 20, 2007
Best cd I've purchased in a long time. These two brothers have the voice of angels. Their cd is almost a spiritual event. A must have if you like good harmonizing. A cross between Andrea Bocceli and Celine Dion....

4 out of 5 stars Not That Bad At All   October 19, 2007

I was really apprehensive when I first heard the song "Tears of an Angel"...mostly because, although, I love crossover opera, the idea of anything sounding remotely close to G4 was too close for comfort. I was wrong...RyanDan is NOTHING like the monstrosity that is G4. The rest of the CD is pretty decent.

I do think they need a better arranger, and I do agree with the other review about "The Prayer" and "Wind Beneath My Wings"...but at least it's not another cover version of "Nella Fantasia", because let's face it, Ennio Morricone re-arranged the track for Sarah Brightman, and every cover thereafter, was never as good.

I think my favourite track from the debut RyanDan CD has to be, "You Needed Me". It's really bittersweet and rich. It's not as haunting as "Tears of an Angel," but the same rich texture can be heard in their melodic blend.
