Tink pedals one of her contraptions, Lily rides a giant snail, Fawn hops on a frog, Beck cruises on a squirrel, Fira sails on a balloon, and Rani rides Brother Dove. Who will win the Great Fairy Race? Find out in this Step 3 reader, featuring the beloved Disney Fairies.

Short but Sweet April 2, 2010 Shannon M. Mcgee (PA) The Disney Fairies are ready to race. The only rule is they can't use their wings or legs. Beck rides her friend Squirrel, Fawn on her frog, Rani flies on Brother Dove, Fira takes a hot air balloon, Silvermist surfs on a wave, Tinker Bell tinkered and made her own car, Bess rides a cart with a mouse driving and Lily ... well Lily picked a snail, so she was not the fastest. But so many things can happen in a race; who do you think will win?
This is one of the Step Into Reading books, which has levels for the ages of young readers. They're still as entertaining as the chapter books--which would be too much for certain young readers alone, but will be ready for them one day. I love that they tried to fit as many Disney fairies as possible into the book. The more the merrier! Although small, the book keeps true to the characters and story in the chapter books.
gets read over and over at our house! January 16, 2009 A. Kirkpatrick (Oregon City, OR USA) This book is fabulous! My little girl is in love with the disney fairies. She is 3 years old and these books are perfect. Right now, we read them to her. But, as she gets older they are perfect to help her learn to read. We will get a lot of mileage out of them. It is just the right length to read 2 or 3 at bedtime. And, it entertains mom and dad too. The illustrations are beautiful in the story. We also have "The Great Fairy Berry Bake Off". Love it as well. The disney fairies "chapter" books are great on audio cd for long car rides. My daughter intently listens to the story instead of constantly asking "Are we there yet?". Lifesavers! A great alternate to Disney Princesses. You can only do so much Cinderella and Ariel!
Great Beginner Book October 7, 2008 Jacob A. Hall (APO, AE United States) This is a great book for kids beginning to read I bought this book for my 5 year old and she loves it, beautiful pictures and large type makes it a great book for little girls. My 21/2 year old loves to listen to the story as well.
Great self-reading book August 16, 2008 P. Ford-Fyffe (Tucson, AZ) This book is a great one for my second grader to read alone or to others. It helps that she is a huge fan of Tinkerbell and the Disney Fairies.
Slow and steady wins the race. May 7, 2008 Rachel McCahon (Melbourne, Australia) The Great Fairy Race is a fantatic book for children just learning to read.
Our favourite Disney fairies are having a race, but the fairies are not allowed to use their wings or feet. They each choose something different to get them to the finish line. Beck rides a squirrel, Rani is riding Brother Dove, Silvermist surfs a wave and Tink races her own pots and pans car. Each fairy runs into trouble along the way though, so who wins the race?
The words in the story are not too long, yet not overly simplistic, and the print is large and easy to read. The beautiful Disney illustrations on each page will help those learning to read to understand what is happening in the story.
My 5-yr-old twin girls started school this year and while we love reading the Disney Fairy chapter books together, this level is perfect for them just starting out. Highly recommended!
