1 out of 5 stars Should be: MISERY OF THE MUMMY   October 6, 2008
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Would be Outraged! This Game Sucks! The Game must have been made by Professor Moriarty as a ploy to tarnish the name of the Worlds Greatest Detective! Go buy a Jeremy Brett movie instead!

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   March 23, 2008
I have played many "adventure/mystery" games but this is, without question, one of the most frustrating and disappointing which I've played. I find the enjoyment in this type of game to be in solving the various challenges and problems through reasoning and deduction. This game was well conceived but the "story line" is weak and poorly implemented through a series of illogically related solutions to improbable challenges. One of it's few redeeming qualities, and the reason for my giving the game two stars rather than one, were the graphics which were very well done and which accurately depicted and enhanced the "period" atmosphere. The final disappointment came in the last "cut" scene when Holmes is revealing the "plot" to Watson and the complicity of the various characters. When this animated video played, the audio was so "garbled" by static and a slightly delayed echo as to be indiscernable. Other than that, there were no "technical" problems in running the game on an XP machine.

1 out of 5 stars PC game   January 27, 2008
I returned this game. It wouldn't load properly, and when it did, it got stuck alot and I was never able to play it properly. I have MANY Pc games, so I know it wasn't my system.

3 out of 5 stars Sherlock Holmes Not At His Best...   November 5, 2007

I got this game as a birthday gift, and was devastated that my windows 98 computer didn't seem to be compatible with it. The screen was all green and mottled. So if you have a windows 98 computer, DO NOT buy this game. I had to use a walk-through for almost the entire game because I couldn't see the screen! After I got a new computer (windows xp), the game worked like a charm. Here is my review.

Plot-B- The plot of this game was rather thin. There were no other characters in this game to talk with, and no one to give you any hints. By the end of this game, I had almost forgotten what the story line even was!

Graphics-A- The graphics in this game were nice. They were mostly clear and bright. They weren't spectacular, but they weren't unbearable.

Puzzles-B- Elementary my dear Watson? I think not. The puzzles in this game ranged from very simple to ridiculously hard. You may have to use a walk-through if you are like me, and are not a genius.

Content-Like the game box indicates, this game is appropriate for everyone!

Overall- B This game is a nice game if you don't mind it's imperfections.
If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan, I think that you will find this game to not be in keeping with Holmes character, but if you are a adventure games fan, I think you will enjoy it.

Hope I was helpful...

1 out of 5 stars Dizzying   September 2, 2007
This game might have had a lot of fun puzzles. Maybe the storyline was interesting.

I wouldn't know. I was unable to play it because it used what was supposed to be a cool perspective. What I saw was a room that was almost constantly in spin. I couldn't even look at a single wall without it spinning me around. This made it impossible for me to play for more than 5 minutes, and even that was a stretch.

It's too bad because I think it had the kinds of puzzle that I enjoy. But only if they stay still and let me look at them.
