Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. The title says it all - I am extremely happy with this console. I was always a Playstation guy until my cousin showed me the light with the XBox 360. I was planning on buying a PS3 in the future, but why would I spend that kind of money when I can get the XBox for so much cheaper?? Love it!

I bought a 360 about a year ago. I only feel qualified to review it as a system now because I can safely say I owned this system for the entire length of its functional life, and don't think I'll be getting much more out of it, since it no longer works.
That's an exaggeration. It'll work again. I just have to get an entirely new disc drive for it.
Which brings me to the strange duality of the 360. On one hand, there are some truly great games available for it and only for it. The graphics it's capable of are superb, the standard wireless controllers are outstanding, and they're even designed rather ergonomically. And yet--before something can be good, it has to function.
Let me tell you a quick story for comparative purposes. The first system I ever owned was a Sega Master System. 1986, folks. Being a kid, I kicked the heck out of it. Dropped it. Spilled stuff on it. Treated the cartridges poorly. My brother enjoyed chewing on the electrical cables (seriously). Guess what? It's in the other room right now, still hooked up and functioning perfectly (including the chewed cords; nothing a little tape didn't fix).
On the other hand, my Xbox 360 was treated like it was the statue of a deity. It had its own particular spot, well-ventilated, was never knocked over, spilled upon, or spoken to vulgarly. If I had to move it, I wrapped it up in a blanket so it wouldn't get dinged. And less than a year after buying it...it breaks down.
So--lifespan comparisons. Sega Master System = 22 years and counting. Xbox 360 = 10 months.
Really, if you're going to be charging people hundreds of dollars, at least have the common courtesy to use quality parts. I can understand not building them to military specifications, but can it at least last a year before it breaks down? I may be fixing my 360, but you can bet it's the last time I trust this company with my money.
Next time I'm going with a Playstation--which, given, also break down. But it seems they don't do it with nearly the regularity and predictability of the Xbox. Sorry, Microsoft. You had two chances. (Oh, right, I forgot to mention. I also owned an Xbox. Guess what? It stopped reading discs after...about a year. Seems to be a pattern.)
Realized Potential October 2, 2008
This is by far the best console of this generation. It has more features and games than both ps3 and wii combined. From the amazing marketplace where you can buy original xbox games, movies, music videos, games, demos and more.
Of all three systems it has the most established and polished online community. There is enough free content in the market place to easily keep you busy for hours a day. And the user interface is smoother than a newborns rump.
the best console of the generation, you can also stream media from your computer via windows live media player without having to have it connected directly to your pc. so i never have to buy movies, just download and watch from my room.

I find it very interesting that Amazon has asked me to review an item that I have not received. I ordered it from a seller named Royalty Entertainment on the 22 of August. It is the 23 of September and it has not arrived. Had to file a claim against seller, but I have been told I will not receive a refund until October 3rd.
This was my last purchase ever from a seller or Amazon. They both have been very unprofessional with me.
Great games, but system ??? September 22, 2008
I bought this product for Christams last year (my kids had xbox before and we loved it so we decided to upgrade) and I never knew that they have the overheating problem, after my oldest son played overnight it never turned on again (I had it for 9 months, previous model we had for over 4 years and it never had any problems)
my kids love games that work with xbox but we decidet to change it to wii,
