For Hardcore Only, Others Need Not Apply August 25, 2008 8 out of 31 found this review helpful
COMBAT SYSTEM BROKEN. YOUR TOUGHEST GUYS WITH THE BEST EQUIPENT, HIGHEST LEVEL, CAN FALL TO ENEMIES JUST AS EASILY AS A PUNY MAGE OR CLERIC. THIS GAME WILL DEFY LOGIC TIME AFTER TIME. FRUSTRATING GRINDING THAT IS ULTIMATLEY POINTLESS. WATCH AS THE FEW LEVELS YOU GET FROM HOURS OF HARD WORK ARE PAID OFF WITH MEAGER GOLD AMOUNTS AND TRULY USELESS OVERPRICED WEAPON UPGRADES. BE AMAZED AS YOUR SUCCESS IS DICTATED BY RANDOM CHANCE AND NO STRATEGY IN SIGHT! LEVEL YOUR CHARACTERS ALL YOU WANT ONLY TO BE EMBARRASSED AS YOUR STRONGEST 'TANK' GETS CUT DOWN BY LOWER-LEVEL 'SCRUB' ENEMIES. AFTER PICKING UP 'FIRE EMBLEM: RADIANT DAWN' FOR THE WII, I REALIZED HOW ATROCIOUS THIS GAME REALLY IS, FOR A STRAT-RPG. THERE'S A GOOD RPG HERE, BUT IT'S BURIED SO FAR UNDER BROKEN FUNDAMENTAL MECHANICS THAT ONLY A HARDCORE RPG'ER OR ATLUS FAN NEED BOTHER.
