Useless Junk April 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Do not bother buying this game. The AI is programmed to make ridiculous calls and the computer players always win. No matter who the player is they will calls "All Ins" holding 7,2/ 7,3/ 8,3/ 2,9 and they wins every single time. This game is not meant to help improve you poker game but to ruin it. Don't throw your money away on this game. Instead spend it on the writings of Dan Harrington or Doyle Brunson's Super System I & II. You'll learn from their writing. The reviewer who gave this game a 5 has definitely never played live poker in a casino with actually players who understand the theory and psychology of poker.
Playing against the best April 4, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to admit, I play a lot of online poker these days, but some of that time is spent trying to not get attached to a terrible table...you know, where there are crazy people that play crazily. Depending on my mood, that may be interesting, but typically I want to sit down and try to improve my game and do well and play against people that actually seem to care about how they play. That's where the Poker Superstars game comes in. I found the AI to be interesting and somewhat challenging when the stakes were high enough, and I can play right now against opponents that seem to care how they play.
There's also Gold Chips to win during the game (similar to trophies in other games) which adds something to the overall game dynamic...but in the end, it's all about the poker.
