Don't miss it if you have an animal lover at home! November 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my six year old daughter and it has quickly become one of her favorites. I have to say that I find it quite charming as well. Basically, you are put in charge of the Happy Tails Animal Shelter, where you will take in all kinds of animals and try to find the perfect person to send them home with. You are also in charge of caring for each animal, including feeding them, grooming them, and making sure they get play time and personal attention. There are all kinds of really cute animals in the game, from cats, dogs, and guinea pigs to horses and deer. You start off with the "easy" animals and gradually work your way up to the larger animals that require more care and attention. My daughter is really into animals and is just crazy for cats and horses, so she loves being able to play "mommy" to all the critters in the game. The graphics are well-done on the animals and they are all really cute. She is able to play the game pretty easily on her own as the controls are easy to learn and the same concepts are used throughout the game. I think that this is an especially unique game because of the lessons that it teaches kids about what it is really like to take care of an animal every day. I'm sure lots of parents (myself included)have their kids begging for a puppy or a pony and I think that this game is able to illustrate to children that having a pet is a big (but fun!) responsibility. Also, after playing this game, my daughter asked me how old you have to be to work at a real animal shelter and told me that she wants to find homes for real animals someday! All in all, I think Happy Tails is a great game that you can feel good about your kids playing.
