2 out of 5 stars ok-just ok   December 17, 2002

for the first five minuts the distruction is cool but then it gets really r haven't unlocked free roam, however, just playing the missions, it doesn't seem like free roam could be all that fun. there . simply wouldn't be anything to do. even running over people is really [bad] in this game they just kind of fall dopwn and then get back up again. as for the objects, it is like Spyhunter whewre there is that arangement of [stuff] you can go through and they kind of just sorta of sink onto the ground. the gameplay is fairly fun though, and the graphics are really good-exept for the horid frame rate! ... asa for the shuting part, it is lame and doesn;t reallyh make the game better.

I think I will sell it and get burnout; maby that will be better. after that I will save up for "The Getaway'...

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!   December 5, 2002

This game is AWSOME! You can go anywhere, hit anything, do anything, along with 2-player battles, and tons of missions to do(Dragon or Spy missions). Earn cars to have a more variety of vehicles to choose from! There are sports cars, buggies, trucks, sedans, monster trucks, and even a TANK! Awesome game worth every buck!

3 out of 5 stars Good game to have, but not at full price.   December 4, 2002

Recommending Wreckess poses a dilemma. There are so many things about the game that are good, most specifically those things surrounding the graphics. Wreckless contains a beautiful and detailed Hong Kong cityscape and is chock full of special effects. After a mission you can watch a replay that is stunningly realistic. The game is also easy to pick up and lots of fun to play.

So what's the problem? Unfortunately, this is not a game that will grip you for hours. After the pretty graphics and the novelty of smashing everything in sight wear off, you find the gameplay has little substance. Drive around, smash stuff, drive around some more, etc. Don't get me wrong, the game can be great fun, but only as something you pick up every once in a while when you want a quick and fast-paced game. Don't hesitate to buy Wreckless up if you can get it at a discount. Otherwise, you might want to try a rental first.

One last thing that should be mentioned. This game is based in Hong-Kong, so vehicles drive on the wrong (i.e., left) side of the road. This means that when you start, you will find that your natural inclinations meet you head on with a lot of traffic. In order to be able to complete more advanced levels, you have to learn to get in and stay driving in the left lane.

2 out of 5 stars WOW!...SO.........disappointing.....   December 3, 2002

I was hyped up! The back of the disc case showed quite promising graphics. I went to the video store...rented it...put it in...and-------> :-O (What have I done!)

The intro scenes of this game, Wreckless, reminds me of Dragon Balls..or one of those Japanese cartoons & animation. Sure, they are neat, but not into it. They tried to make it a bit comic, but I only found it quite cheesy.

Ok...about the game itself. I would have to point out the graphics are quite impressive, quite detailed...of the city streets, buildings, and signs. There is also quite a bit of traffic too, unlike games like GTA 3 of Vice City, there are barely any cars on the road for a city of a few million. However, it does get annoying at times (in Wreckless) when you are trying to finish your missions, often running into other cars in a 2-lane street.

However, I am GREATLY disappointed with the car physical damage effects in this game (eventhough the car modelling is quite good and realistic). They are beyond terrible. It is funny thinking back how the video game salesman told me how great this game is, and how it has one of the greatest car damage effects out of all games in PS2. BS! You can rear-end or hit the opponents' cars at full speed, you still don't see a damage on them. After a few hits, however, you will see the windows crack (eventhough there is not 1 scratch or dent on the body). Unfortunately, it was so unsuccessfully made that it just looks like a bunch of spider webs or simply fixed curvy crossed-lines. Oh, and I suppose when you hit them from behind, not only the rear glass will crack, mysteriously, the FRONT AND THE SIDE windows will also do the same...with the same patterns too. And the next damage it will show is the whole car being blown up...and disappears after a few seconds. I would recommend GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 & VICE CITY...or even STUNTMAN for better car damage graphics. However, if you run your car through markets, stands, and fences, it is not only quite realistic, it is also fun.

The gameplay...BORING. I finished a few missions/levels... but I felt no sense of achievements. I didn't have the motivation for continuation. Therefore, I returned it. Overall, the gameplay is dull and boring (pretty much just ramming opponents' cars with almost no physical damage..until it all of a sudden blows up). It holds very little interests.

Overall WRECKLESS-

Car damage effects: 1/5
Graphics: 4/5
Gameplay: 2/5
